Book Synopsis Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry by : Viktor V. Zhdankin
Download or read book Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry written by Viktor V. Zhdankin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry is the first comprehensive text covering all of the main aspects of the chemistry of organic and inorganic polyvalent iodine compounds, including applications in chemical research, medicine, and industry. Providing a comprehensive overview of the preparation, properties, and synthetic applications of this important class of reagents, the text is presented in the following way: The introductory chapter provides a historical background and describes the general classification of iodine compounds, nomenclature, hypervalent bonding, structural features, and the principles of reactivity of polyvalent iodine compounds. Chapter 2 gives a detailed description of the preparative methods and structural features of all known classes of organic and inorganic derivatives of polyvalent iodine. Chapter 3, the key chapter of the book, deals with the many applications of hypervalent iodine reagents in organic synthesis. Chapter 4 describes the most recent achievements in hypervalent iodine catalysis. Chapter 5 deals with recyclable polymer-supported and nonpolymeric hypervalent iodine reagents. Chapter 6 covers the "green" reactions of hypervalent iodine reagents under solvent-free conditions or in aqueous solutions. The final chapter provides an overview of the important practical applications of polyvalent iodine compounds in medicine and industry. This book is aimed at all chemists interested in iodine compounds, including academic and industrial researchers in inorganic, organic, physical, medicinal, and biological chemistry. It will be particularly useful to synthetic organic and inorganic chemists, including graduate and advanced undergraduate students. It comprehensively covers the green chemistry aspects of hypervalent iodine chemistry, making it especially useful for industrial chemists.
Book Synopsis Organic Chemist's Desk Reference by : Caroline Cooper
Download or read book Organic Chemist's Desk Reference written by Caroline Cooper and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2010-07-23 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CHOICE Award Winner Since the first publication in 1995, the Organic Chemist’s Desk Reference has been essential reading for laboratory chemists who need a concise guide to the essentials of organic chemistry — the literature, nomenclature, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, hazard information, and laboratory data. The past fifteen years have witnessed immense growth in the field of chemistry and new discoveries have continued to shape its progress. In addition, the distinction between organic chemistry and other disciplines such as biochemistry and materials science has become increasingly blurred. Extensively revised and updated, this new edition contains the very latest data that chemists need access to for experimentation and research. New in the Second Edition: Rearranged content placed in a logical progressive order, making subjects easier to find Expanded topics from the glossary now presented as separate chapters Updated information on many classic subjects such as mass spectrometry and infrared, ultraviolet, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy New sections on chiral separations and crystallography Cross references to a plethora of web information Reflecting a 75% revision since the last edition, this volume is a must-have for organic chemists and those in related fields who need quick and easy access to vital information in the lab. It is also a valuable companion to the Dictionary of Organic Compounds, enabling readers to easily focus in on critical data.

Book Synopsis Development of New Radical Cascades and Multi-Component Reactions by : Marie-Helene Larraufie
Download or read book Development of New Radical Cascades and Multi-Component Reactions written by Marie-Helene Larraufie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-16 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this dissertation, Marie-Hélène Larraufie develops original radical and pallado-catalyzed methodologies to enable the synthesis of several classes of bioactive nitrogen-containing heterocycles. New radical cascades employing the N-acylcyanamide moiety offer straightforward routes to quinazolinones and guanidines, as well as new insights into the mechanism of homolytic aromatic substitutions. In parallel, Larraufie expands the scope of visible light photoredox catalysis to the ring opening of epoxides and aziridines, thus providing new sustainable alternatives for the generation of radicals. Furthermore, in a collaborative effort with the Catellani group, the author investigates dual palladium/norbornene catalysis. First, she develops a C-amination coupling variant of the Catellani reaction with unprotected amines which provides an expeditious route to phenanthridines. Then, she examines the influence of the chelating effect on Pd(IV) intermediates reactivity with the help of experimental studies and DFT calculations. The work in this thesis has resulted in numerous publications in high impact journals. The clarity and depth of the experimental section will be useful for students and researchers working in this field.
