Roxy's interest in media convergence also reflects a larger moment in which the entertainment industry began to create brands and franchises, exploit them through content release "events," and give rise to feature films, soundtracks, broadcasts, live performances, and related consumer products. Regularly cited as one of the twelve most important figures in the film and radio industries, Roxy was instrumental to the development of film exhibition and commercial broadcasting, musical accompaniment, and a new, convergent entertainment industry.

I wanted my dogs to have the proper nutrition in their food and treats. Also, another reason I created this book is because at the time, several dog food brands were being recalled, and I was worried my dogs' health was at risk if they were ingesting harmful ingredients. In my research, I found that dogs could actually eat a lot of the same foods people can eat. So it seemed the next step would be to create recipes with a variety of ingredients for my dogs that they would enjoy. My first step was to research approved ingredients for dogs. Then as research expanded on other food types, more variety of flavors seemed possible. I was surprised at all the fruits and vegetables dogs can have. My dogs and my friends' and coworkers' dogs were my taste testers. So far, no complaints. For the most part, the ingredients are inexpensive, and if you grow them yourself, it's even easier on the wallet. The protein could be the ingredient that costs the most. My dogs are so happy at lunchtime, they cannot stand still while we are dishing out their food. Our Bernese mountain dog jumps up to put her paws on the counter and drools while barking and my little one dances around on the floor. In my research, I found that homemade food could extend a dog's life by two years. This book took approximately a year plus in the making, and I hope that other people and dogs enjoy the recipes as much I enjoyed creating them.

It’s fine that I didn’t get more Apples because I’m busy doing a million other things including, of course, writing books. In 2017, I wrote Strawberry Cheesecake Applesauce. That treat always makes me drool. This year I’m writing Chocolate Covered Cherries Applesauce, which is another treat that will make you be rude and salivate. I hope that you enjoy these Recipes just as much as those in my previous book. And I hope that you get creative and make your own Gourmet Applesauce Recipes. You can find tips on choosing the right Apples and flavors in Strawberry Cheesecake Applesauce. I won’t bother repeating those tips here. Recipes are handy to have. I often use them as a starting point. But mostly, my cooking is an art. And of course, I don’t write down how much of what I put in any of my Applesauces when I’m making them. Notwithstanding that, I’ve added a chapter at the end of this book titled Recipes. That’s where I’ve tried to recall how much of each ingredient I used in each Recipe. Each of my Gourmet Applesauce Recipes starts with my Basic Gourmet Applesauce Recipe which is also included in the Recipes chapter. Perhaps I wrote that chapter as an attempt to assuage my guilt for not writing each Recipe down at the time I made it. No, that can’t be true. I don’t feel any guilt about that at all. I must have written it because I wanted you to be able to repeat my successes. I wrote it for you, so that your attempts at making my Recipes wouldn’t turn out to be total disasters. Of course, when making a Gourmet Applesauce, it’s hard to create a total flop. However, as you’ll learn in my Orange Spiced Punch Applesauce chapter, you may end up with something totally different from what you had in mind when you started. Oh those Apples and flavors!
