Come back deaf dumb and blind kid, this is your time. Return to the Warehouse District conveys stories of The Steve and Larry Show, a cerebral band fond of inside jokes also co-founded by Tom, who buys left of center glossy magazines ‘for the pictures,’ while Larry takes too much time at the supermarket because he shops by the hunt and peck method. The laid back trio of Mugu, Meowmix and their dog Mellow Yellow, but do M&M take the pet out for a walk or does he take them out for a cigarette, given that their contribution to countering the effects of climate change is not smoking in bed? This is not a picaresque novel, but ultimately a battle between good and evil, a conflict between catharsis and retribution, with hopefully one deserving winner.

Book excerpt: A major contribution to our understanding of slavery in the early republic, Deliver Us from Evil illuminates the white South's twisted and tortured efforts to justify slavery, focusing on the period from the drafting of the federal constitution in 1787 through the age of Jackson. Drawing heavily on primary sources, including newspapers, government documents, legislative records, pamphlets, and speeches, Lacy K. Ford recaptures the varied and sometimes contradictory ideas and attitudes held by groups of white southerners as they tried to square slavery with their democratic ideals. He excels at conveying the political, intellectual, economic, and social thought of leading white southerners, vividly recreating the mental world of the varied actors and capturing the vigorous debates over slavery. He also shows that there was not one antebellum South but many, and not one southern white mindset but several, with the debates over slavery in the upper South quite different in substance from those in the deep South. In the upper South, where tobacco had fallen into comparative decline by 1800, debate often centered on how the area might reduce its dependence on slave labor and "whiten" itself, whether through gradual emancipation and colonization or the sale of slaves to the cotton South. During the same years, the lower South swirled into the vortex of the "cotton revolution," and that area's whites lost all interest in emancipation, no matter how gradual or fully compensated. An ambitious, thought-provoking, and highly insightful book, Deliver Us from Evil makes an important contribution to the history of slavery in the United States, shedding needed light on the white South's early struggle to reconcile slavery with its Revolutionary heritage.

After all, she’s never heard of another living female werewolf, let alone one who’s given birth. But thankfully, her expertise is needed to retrieve a stolen letter allegedly written by Jack the Ripper. As a distraction, the job seems simple enough — only the letter contains a portal to Victorian London’s underworld, which Elena inadvertently triggers — unleashing a vicious killer and a pair of zombie thugs. Book excerpt: GIDEON RETURNS – A Damsel in Distress Book 3 Gideon Detective Series A detective with his whodunnit murder mystery or a chemistry professor seeking the structure of a new compound uses little of formal and logical modes of reasoning. It is times they stumble upon the correct explanation from a feeling in their gut and have just the right knack of seizing the opportunity when it comes within their reach. Sidney St. James originally wrote "Rosenthall" in 2016, Book 1 in the Gideon Detective Series. In 2019, his newest release, Gideon Returns – A Damsel in Distress, Vincent Gideon continued his infamous skills at investigation and was in the right place at the right time, twice. Or, at least a young German woman by the name of Abigail Hoffmann would tend to agree. Taking place in a seaside village in Oregon, a small fishing village, Black Rock Cove is the scene for lots of action and intrigue. Gideon hasn't had a case in months and is glad to receive word from the Portland Police Chief that a group of assassins and thieves were about to arrive in the States from Oldenburg, Germany. His job was simple enough. Go and apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice. He was asked to go to the docks to await the arrival of the Johann Dethardt, the large ocean liner that carried the four villains onboard, along with six hundred other passengers. However, when he went out to meet the ship, all Hell broke loose. Mystery, sex, and hot summer nights ensued for weeks after that. Is Gideon going to let the criminals go free the way he did Rosenthall, or is he going apprehend them with no loose ends to follow? A young and beautiful woman falls overboard and into the dark waters of the Pacific two miles offshore from Black Rock Cove. A knife to the chest probably caused her fall. Was she dead? Vincent Gideon thought so and fell out of his skiff as the body plunged almost hitting him in the small dinghy below. The woman who fell overboard says she is Abigail Hoffmann. Another woman who calls herself Abigail Hoffmann cashes in three hundred and fifty thousand dollars in bonds. Who is the real Abigail Hoffmann? Who is the murderer of Derek Schiller in Oldenburg, Germany? Does Rosenthall have something to do with this overall scheme to drag his nemesis back out of retirement? There are many twists and turns. The question you will ask yourself throughout the entire novel is, "Who is the real Abigail Hoffman?" Or, can Vincent Gideon put aside his romantic feelings for Abigail and focus on the facts before him? Will his desire for this beautiful woman let a resourceful killer off the hook, again? Murder and mystery throughout this novel are peppered with romance and humor in this fast-paced whodunit detective mystery series amidst the spectacular Oregon landscape and the Pacific's seaside sunsets.

Book excerpt: Dana Lynne O'Malley grew up believing that her grandfather was a leprechaun. After all, that was the nickname her grandmother lovingly gave him. Curiously, even as Dana becomes an adult, her grandfather never dissuades her from the fantasy. When her grandfather dies, however, it quickly becomes clear that he is indeed more than just an ordinary mortal. He rises from the dead, clad in his burial kilt, confident that he's been sent back for a reason. Dana is struggling to move beyond the tragic death of her lesbian lover while at the same time dealing with the daunting prospect of running the Burlington Gazette , the family newspaper. She dreams of branching out and thriving as a photographer. Luckily, her grandfather's insurance policy is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and he's only too happy to allocate some of the money to help his granddaughter find her passions. Travel with Dana as she traverses the country, capturing the spirit of America using the lens of her camera, much like Norman Rockwell did with his paintbrush. It's a bittersweet journey on which she meets a beautiful Latina named Angelita Esperanza, and her life is forever changed.
