At the beginning of the work and before the training schools for nurses could be accredited, a pamphlet was issued setting forth the requirements upon which the schools could be accredited, also certain recommendations and a suggested course of study. The schools have generally met these minimum requirements, have adopted many of the recommendations and have followed the suggested course of study. The teaching of nursing, like all branches of education, is under going reconstruction. It, therefore, becomes necessary, from time to time, to revise the requirements for our schools that we may meet these increasing demands and continue to maintain a good standard of nurs ing education in California. The course herein outlined has been arranged with the view of cover ing all branches of nursing under the major subjects: Medicine, Sur gery, Obstetrics and Pediatrics. The time allowed for each subject and its allied branches is considered sufficient to maintain a proper balance of instruction.
