Book Synopsis Optical Imaging in Projection Microlithography by : Alfred Kwok-Kit Wong
Download or read book Optical Imaging in Projection Microlithography written by Alfred Kwok-Kit Wong and published by SPIE Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here for the first time is an integrated mathematical view of the physics and numerical modeling of optical projection lithography that efficiently covers the full spectrum of the important concepts. Alfred Wong offers rigorous underpinning, clarity in systematic formulation, physical insight into emerging ideas, as well as a system-level view of the parameter tolerances required in manufacturing. Readers with a good working knowledge of calculus can follow the step-by-step development, and technologists can gather general concepts and the key equations that result. Even the casual reader will gain a perspective on the key concepts, which will likely help facilitate dialog among technologists.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers presented at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop in "Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction and Reflection Electron Imaging of Surfaces" held at the Koningshof conference center, Veldhoven, the Netherlands, June 15-19, 1987. The main topics of the workshop, Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction (RHEED) and Reflection Electron Microscopy (REM), have a common basis in the diffraction processes which high energy electrons undergo when they interact with solid surfaces at grazing angles. However, while REM is a new technique developed on the basis of recent advances in transmission electron microscopy, RHEED is an old method in surface crystallography going back to the discovery of electron diffraction in 1927 by Davisson and Germer. Until the development of ultra high vacuum techniques in the 1960's made instruments using slow electrons more accessable, RHEED was the dominating electron diffraction technique. Since then and until recently the method of Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED) largely surpassed RHEED in popularity in surface studies. The two methods are closely related of course, each with its own specific advantages. The grazing angle geometry of RHEED has now become a very useful feature because this makes it ideally suited for combination with the thin growth technique of Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE). This combination allows in-situ studies of freshly grown and even growing surfaces, opening up new areas of research of both fundamental and technological importance.

Book Synopsis Mirrors and Reflections by : Alexandre V. Borovik
Download or read book Mirrors and Reflections written by Alexandre V. Borovik and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-07 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This graduate/advanced undergraduate textbook contains a systematic and elementary treatment of finite groups generated by reflections. The approach is based on fundamental geometric considerations in Coxeter complexes, and emphasizes the intuitive geometric aspects of the theory of reflection groups. Key features include: many important concepts in the proofs are illustrated in simple drawings, which give easy access to the theory; a large number of exercises at various levels of difficulty; some Euclidean geometry is included along with the theory of convex polyhedra; no prerequisites are necessary beyond the basic concepts of linear algebra and group theory; and a good index and bibliography The exposition is directed at advanced undergraduates and first-year graduate students.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the outcome of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Machine Intelligence and Knowledge Engineering for Robotic Applications held at Maratea, Italy in May 1986. Attendance of the workshop was by invitation only. Most of the participants and speakers are recognized leaders in the field, representing industry, government and academic c0mrnunity worldwide. The focus of the workshop was to review the recent advances of machine intelligence and knowledge engineering for robotic appli cations. It covers five main areas of interest. They are grouped into five sections: 1. Robot Vision 2. Knowledge Representation and Image Understanding 3. Robot Control and Inference Systems 4. Task Planning and Expert Systems 5. Software/Hardware Systems Also included in this book are a paper from the Poster Session and a brief report of the panel discussion on the Future Direction in Knowledge-Based Robotics. Section I of this book consists of four papers. It begins with a review of the basic concepts of computer vision, with emphasis on techniques specific for robot vision systems. The next paper pre sents a comprehensive 3-D vision system for robotic application.
Book Synopsis Critical Reflection by : Robert Malcolm Murray

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an era of information overload, our need to learn how to critically evaluate the growing flood of information has never been greater. Critical Reflection showcases the role of reason in a world saturated by media-enhanced persuasion and complex scientific and technological jargon.Drawing from the classic philosophical texts, this engaging textbook on the art of analyzing arguments is also relevant to today's undergraduates in its use of real-life examples and exercises drawn mainly from media and politics. Malcolm Murray and Nebojsa Kujundzic cover the standard subjects in a one-semester course on critical thinking, offering ways to analyze arguments

This book was released on 2005-10-31 with total page 1049 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are delighted to welcome readers to the proceedings of the 6th Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM). The first PCM was held in Sydney, Australia, in 2000. Since then, it has been hosted successfully by Beijing, China, in 2001, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2002, Singapore in 2003, and Tokyo, Japan, in 2004, and finally Jeju, one of the most beautiful and fantastic islands in Korea. This year, we accepted 181 papers out of 570 submissions including regular and special session papers. The acceptance rate of 32% indicates our commitment to ensuring a very high-quality conference. This would not be possible without the full support of the excellent Technical Committee and anonymous reviewers that provided timely and insightful reviews. We would therefore like to thank the Program Committee and all reviewers. The program of this year reflects the current interests of the PCM’s. The accepted papers cover a range of topics, including, all aspects of multimedia, both technical and artistic perspectives and both theoretical and practical issues. The PCM 2005 program covers tutorial sessions and plenary lectures as well as regular presentations in three tracks of oral sessions and a poster session in a single track. We have tried to expand the scope of PCM to the artistic papers which need not to be strictly technical.
