Our place of holding religious service was in the old adobe courthouse. Here we organized a Presbyterian Church of twelve members, except the ordination of the elders. I also secured, before leaving, a lot for a church edifice. At that time there were probably about five thousand inhabitants. Four-fifths of these were Spanish.
