Christian parents and mentors are entrusted with the call to nurture and train these hearts, releasing them to excel in loving and seeking God. In Raising Burning Ones, Patricia Bootsma draws on the expertise she gained raising six children and mentoring many others, and shares the profound and hopeful news that this calling is not beyond our reach, or theirs. Combining practicality and spiritual understanding, this book covers important strategies that are often overlooked, like the power of blessing, of prophetically decreeing truth, and of teaching young ones how to hear God's voice, seek Him in the Word, and pray always.

Book excerpt: Are love and faith enough? After meeting at a young age, Shane and Amanda fall deeply in love. Their lives seem perfect as they progress through high school, and Shane is grateful to God for the enormous blessings he's been given. But high school doesn't last forever, and Shane realizes the rest of his life will never be the same. He has to make difficult decisions, ones that pull him away from the friends he loves dearly, his precious parents, and Amanda. But he and Amanda are certain that they're supposed to use the athletic talents they've always possessed for God's glory, so they decide to wait on forever until they have achieved their goals. Shane is sure everything will work out. It's God's plan, isn't it? Will the flame of love that blazes within these Burning Hearts be extinguished in pursuing the abilities that God has blessed them with, or will their sense of duty to God be subordinate to their love?

Book excerpt: Christ offers His followers a limitless supply of power and anointing to accomplish the work of the kingdom, yet many don’t access it because they’ve become enamored with the thoughts and strategies of man, looking to the church down the street instead of the one found in scripture. Challenging and provoking, Echoes from Golgotha revisits the Gospel and explores what the church is meant to be. If our lives are going to affect eternity, we must make it our highest goal to journey back to Golgotha—to seek the mind of Christ where it all began, in the place of the skull. If you hunger for an authentic faith that ruins you for dead religion and breaks you free from the status quo, this timely message will ignite your heart with fresh zeal and renew your hope for what’s possible. You’re invited on a biblical quest to revisit the events of Golgotha and recapture the radical way of Jesus with the goal of transforming the world through selfless, sacrificial love.

He just wants her to scream his name... As a card-carrying tight-ass, Dyrk Fortis is a dragon shifter who likes things just so in his life. Not that he has much of one, considering he's married to his job as a specialist at Wildridge Security. So, why can't he stop thinking about the firm's curvy, free-spirited receptionist, Tessa Sinclair, and her strangely enchanting—and frustrating—bohemian ways? For Tessa, life is one big magic carpet ride full of wonder and adventure. Her passion for spirituality and all things metaphysical lead her to help others, including poor Dyrk. If he'd just loosen up a bit, maybe he'd have more luck solving his latest case. Blocked chakras are no joke, and she's certain that one yoga session would do the trick. Despite his misgivings, Dyrk discovers Tessa's techniques actually seem to work when he blows open a case in a way none of them expected. The only trouble is that the case in question might just get the entire Wildridge team blown up! Can the star-crossed lovers survive long enough to find their own happily ever after?

Book excerpt: After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL Teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of fifteen, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he’d fought so hard to forge when his children were young—particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one’s own. Unfortunately, Eric learned the hard way that Quality Time doesn’t always show up in Quantity Time. Facebook, television, phones, video games, school, jobs, friends—they all got in the way of a real, meaningful father-son relationship. It was time to take action. As a SEAL, Eric learned to innovate and push boundaries, allowing him to function at levels beyond what was expected, comfortable, ordinary, and even imaginable, and he knew that as a father he needed to do the same with his son. Meeting extreme with extreme was the only answer. Using a unique blend of discipline, leadership, adventure, and grace, Eric and his SEAL brothers will teach you how to connect, and reconnect, with your sons and learn how to raise real men—the Navy SEAL way.

Book excerpt: Experiencing God in Late Medieval and Early Modern England demonstrates that experiences of divine revelation, both biblical and contemporary, were central to late medieval and early modern English religion. The book sheds light on previously under-explored notions about divine revelation and the role these notions played in shaping large portions of English thought and belief. Bringing together a wide variety of source materials, from contemplative works and accounts of revelatory experiences to biblical commentaries, devotionals, and religious imagery, David J. Davis argues that in the period there was a collective representation of divine revelation as a source of human knowledge, which transcended other religious and intellectual divisions. Not only did most people think that divine revelation, through a ravishing encounter with God, was possible, but also divine revelation was understood to be the pinnacle of religious experience and a source of pure understanding. The book highlights a common discourse running through the sources that underpinned this collective representation of how human beings experienced the divine, and it demonstrates a continual effort across large swathes of English religion to prepare an individual's soul for an encounter with the divine, through different spiritual disciplines and devotional practices. Over a period of several centuries this discourse and the larger culture of revelation provided an essential structure and legitimacy both to contemporary claims of divine revelation and the biblical precedents that contemporary experiences were modelled after. This discourse detailed the physical, metaphysical, and epistemological features of how a human being was understood to experience divine revelation, providing a means to delimit and define what happened when an individual was rapture by God. Finally, the book situates the experience of revelation within the wider context of knowledge and identifies the ways that claims to divine revelation were legitimated as well as stigmatized based on this common understanding of the experience of rapture.
