Aircraft, satellites ...etc are the major platforms for remote sensing observations. Unlike electrical, magnetic and gravity surveys that measure force fields, remote sensing technology is commonly referred to methods that employ electromagnetic energy as radio waves, light and heat as the means of detecting and measuring target characteristics. Geoscience is a study of nature world from the core of the earth, to the depths of oceans and to the outer space. This branch of study can help mitigate volcanic eruptions, floods, landslides ... etc terrible human life disaster and help develop ground water, mineral ores, fossil fuels and construction materials. Also, it studies physical, chemical reactions to understand the distribution of the nature resources. Therefore, the geoscience encompass earth, atmospheric, oceanography, pedology, petrology, mineralogy, hydrology and geology. This book covers latest and futuristic developments in remote sensing novel theory and applications by numerous scholars, researchers and experts. It is organized into 26 excellent chapters which include optical and infrared modeling, microwave scattering propagation, forests and vegetation, soils, ocean temperature, geographic information , object classification, data mining, image processing, passive optical sensor, multispectral and hyperspectral sensing, lidar, radiometer instruments, calibration, active microwave and SAR processing. Book Synopsis Radar Interferometry by : Ramon F. Hanssen
Download or read book Radar Interferometry written by Ramon F. Hanssen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-18 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the product of five and a half years of research dedicated to the und- standing of radar interferometry, a relatively new space-geodetic technique for m- suring the earth’s topography and its deformation. The main reason for undertaking this work, early 1995, was the fact that this technique proved to be extremely useful for wide-scale, fine-resolution deformation measurements. Especially the interf- ometric products from the ERS-1 satellite provided beautiful first results—several interferometric images appeared as highlights on the cover of journals such as Nature and Science. Accuracies of a few millimeters in the radar line of sight were claimed in semi-continuous image data acquired globally, irrespective of cloud cover or solar illumination. Unfortunately, because of the relative lack of supportive observations at these resolutions and accuracies, validation of the precision and reliability of the results remained an issue of concern. From a geodetic point of view, several survey techniques are commonly available to measure a specific geophysical phenomenon. To make an optimal choice between these techniques it is important to have a uniform and quantitative approach for describing the errors and how these errors propagate to the estimated parameters. In this context, the research described in this book was initiated. It describes issues involved with different types of errors, induced by the sensor, the data processing, satellite positioning accuracy, atmospheric propagation, and scattering character- tics. Nevertheless, as the first item in the subtitle “Data Interpretation and Error Analysis” suggests, data interpretation is not always straightforward.

Book Synopsis Evaluation of radargrammetric stereo by : Gitta Domik
Download or read book Evaluation of radargrammetric stereo written by Gitta Domik and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ability of an observer to stereoscopically view overlapping radar image pairs is evaluated. This analysis is based on a set of aircraft and satellite radar data, and on data generated by means of computer simulation. Synthesis of radar images is based on digital elevation models, allowing one to study a much wider range of flight parameters and sensor geometries than is currently available for study with real data. The report discusses simulation techniques, presents an evaluation of different radar-grammetric stereo geometries and analyses effects of squint angle, look angles and look angle differences on the stereoscopic view-ability of overlapping radar images.
