Download or read book Meta-States written by L. Michael Hall and published by Neuro-Semantic Publications. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third edition of Meta-States takes you on a journey to the theoretical background, understandings, and constructions of the Meta-States model itself. The aim is to fully locate Meta-States in the field of the cognitive-behavioral sciences as it establishes the emergent field of Neuro-Semantics. Meta-States is not just a model about how you think, feel, relate, act and speak, it is also a different way of thinking about the way you function as a human being. Understanding your own meta-states within this model of self-reflexive consciousness is to enter into a non-linear way of thinking and feeling. This book represents a major contribution to the field of NLP. It is likely that this work will open up an entirely new domain in NLP and offer a new synthesis between NLP and General Semantics.
Book Synopsis The Thinking Manager's Toolbox by : William J. Altier
Download or read book The Thinking Manager's Toolbox written by William J. Altier and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1999 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this indispensable book, a widely experienced business consultant provides a complete set of analytical tools essential to successful trouble-shooting, effective planning, and making better decisions faster, more confidently, and more often. How can you help your company solve a problem in just a few days that's been plaguing managers for three months? How can you bring a room of executives to a consensus on a critical decision that the CEO and his committee have been wrestling with for years? Of course, this is easier said than done. Indeed, not a week goes by without a major business media story about a company that has fallen on hard times and an executive that has resigned for "personal reasons." The root of the failure is usually ineffective decision-making processes, and ultimately, bad decisions. In The Thinking Manager's Toolbox, veteran consultant and renowned business thinker William J. Altier cogently presents the underpinnings of successful thinking processes and their applications, drawing on practical, real-world experiences. The first section explores the fundamentals of thinking, change, and the critical role that sound thinking processes play in effective problem solving. The second section, your basic toolbox, develops five, in-depth fundamental thinking processes. And a third section, the advanced toolbox, develops more specialized applications for creative problem solving. Here then is a valuable primer for anyone, whether a middle manager or a CEO, seeking to solve problems and make better decisions more efficiently. The Thinking Manager's Toolbox is an invaluable resource for those seeking to develop the fundamental thinking processes necessary to perform with excellence.

Book Synopsis Coming to Wholeness by : Connirae Andreas
Download or read book Coming to Wholeness written by Connirae Andreas and published by Real People Press. This book was released on 2018-10-19 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you want a way to have an easier and more satisfying life, this book may well be the elusive "how to" you've been searching for. A series of crises in the author's life led her on an intensive search for solutions. The result is a new method of personal transformation that is simpler, gentler, more direct, and also appears to be more effective and dependable than previous approaches. What makes Wholeness Work unique is that it's based on a spiritual teaching about awakening-but goes farther to offer a method that's specific, precise and universally accessible. You don't need to have spiritual interest or beliefs to benefit. In this book, you'll find real-life stories from people who've done this work and report: -A natural melting away of issues that previously seemed unresolvable -An increased sense of wellbeing -A deep relaxation and resetting of the nervous system -Greater access to a natural wisdom, compassion, humor and creativity This method has helped people with relationship issues, insomnia, difficult emotions, pre-migraine auras and much more. Even some physical issues have shown improvement. People report "It feels gentle-but has a powerful impact. "Eastern Spirituality brings us concepts such as "enlightenment" and "loss of the ego." But for many, the actual experience of these is mysterious and seems esoteric. Can a state of "enlightenment" actually be accessible to the ordinary person? In answering this question, Wholeness Work is a breakthrough in the fields of both spirituality and personal transformation. It isn't a magic pill that you can try one time and then life is perfect. Instead, it's a step-by-step approach that brings profound benefits to those seeking personal transformation and/or spiritual growth. Doing the Wholeness Work feels like a kindness to yourself as you're doing it; the only side effect is that your life continues improving-gradually and dependably. If you want a simple, reliable, direct way to make life better, you've just found it. Praise for Coming to Wholeness: " This is a game changer. I was first introduced to the Wholeness Work by a coach who used the method with my wife and me to profound effect. It is the essential ingredient for all personal transformation- presented clearly in this gem of a book. I hope it opens worlds for you." -Jack Canfield, Coauthor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul(R) "Well done! Connirae Andreas has 'transformed' several centuries and approaches to self-awareness and meditation into her Wholeness Work. Her approach is very gentle, easy, simple and fluid, respectful and inclusive. From my study of Milton Erickson, I believe she has added much to Erickson's work and healing approach in Coming to Wholeness. She says it best: It means that everything that had been getting in our way actually supports the meditation process." -Dr. Chris Gunn, Licensed Psychologist, Flagstaff, AZ "At last, a manual for getting over ourselves. Beyond the self lies a whole world of being fully, spontaneously alive. Thank you, Connirae. This work is brilliant." -Stewart Emery, author, founding CEO of EST, creator of Actualizations, coffee maven "Connirae's Coming to Wholeness suggests the elegant simplicity of a captivating melody- it takes hold of you and effortlessly carries you along. A lot of sophisticated musical understanding goes into writing a tune that captures the heart, and a lot of sophisticated psychological understanding has gone into developing and refining a process that expands the self and releases the heart." -Douglas Flemons, Ph.D., LMFT, Professor of Family Therapy, Nova Southeastern University Connirae Andreas PhD is an international teacher of personal growth methods, known for her innovative contributions spanning more than four decades. She is best known for her groundbreaking work, Core Transformation already used internatio

Download or read book The Ancient Future of the Itza written by and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2010-06-28 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of Edmonson's work refers to the Mayan custom of first predicting their history and then living it, and it may be that no other peoples have ever gone so far in this direction. The Book of Chilam Balam was a sacred text prepared by generations of Mayan priests to record the past and to predict the future. The official prophet of each twenty-year rule was the Chilam Balam, or Spokesman of the Jaguar—the Jaguar being the supreme authority charged with converting the prophet's words into fact. This is a literal but poetic translation of one of fourteen known manuscripts in Yucatecan Maya on ritual and history. It pictures a world of all but incredible numerological order, slowly yielding to Christianity and Spanish political pressure but never surrendering. In fact, it demonstrates the surprising truth of a secret Mayan government during the Spanish rule, which continued to collect tribute in the names of the ruined Classic cities and preserved the essence of the Mayan calendar as a legacy for the tradition's modern inheritors. The history of the Yucatecan Maya from the seventh to the nineteenth century is revealed. And this is history as the Maya saw it—of a people concerned with lords and priests, with the cosmology which justified their rule, and with the civil war which they perceived as the real dimension of the colonial period. A work of both history and literature, the Tizimin presents a great deal of Mayan thought, some of which has been suspected but not previously documented. Edmonson's skillful reordering of the text not only makes perfect historical sense but also resolves the long-standing problem of correlating the two colonial Mayan calendars. The book includes both interpretative and literal translations, as well as the Maya parallel couplets and extensive annotations on each page. The beauty of the sacred text is illuminated by the literal translation, while both versions unveil the magnificent historical, philosophical, and social traditions of the most sophisticated native culture in the New World. The prophetic history of the Tizimin creates a portrait of the continuity and vitality, of the ancient past and the foreordained future of the Maya.

Book Synopsis The Self and Its Brain by : Karl R. Popper
Download or read book The Self and Its Brain written by Karl R. Popper and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of the relation between our bodies and our minds, and espe cially of the link between brain structures and processes on the one hand and mental dispositions and events on the other is an exceedingly difficult one. Without pretending to be able to foresee future developments, both authors of this book think it improbable that the problem will ever be solved, in the sense that we shall really understand this relation. We think that no more can be expected than to make a little progress here or there. We have written this book in the hope that we have been able to do so. We are conscious of the fact that what we have done is very conjectur al and very modest. We are aware of our fallibility; yet we believe in the intrinsic value of every human effort to deepen our understanding of our selves and of the world we live in. We believe in humanism: in human rationality, in human science, and in other human achievements, however fallible they are. We are unimpressed by the recurrent intellectual fashions that belittle science and the other great human achievements. An additional motive for writing this book is that we both feel that the debunking of man has gone far enough - even too far. It is said that we had to learn from Copernicus and Darwin that man's place in the universe is not so exalted or so exclusive as man once thought. That may well be.

Download or read book Innumeracy written by John Allen Paulos and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2011-04-01 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers of Innumeracy will be rewarded with scores of astonishing facts, a fistful of powerful ideas, and, most important, a clearer, more quantitative way of looking at their world. Why do even well-educated people understand so little about mathematics? And what are the costs of our innumeracy? John Allen Paulos, in his celebrated bestseller first published in 1988, argues that our inability to deal rationally with very large numbers and the probabilities associated with them results in misinformed governmental policies, confused personal decisions, and an increased susceptibility to pseudoscience of all kinds. Innumeracy lets us know what we're missing, and how we can do something about it. Sprinkling his discussion of numbers and probabilities with quirky stories and anecdotes, Paulos ranges freely over many aspects of modern life, from contested elections to sports stats, from stock scams and newspaper psychics to diet and medical claims, sex discrimination, insurance, lotteries, and drug testing.
