Download or read book Quantum Transport Calculations for Nanosystems written by Kenji Hirose and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-04-11 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As electric devices become smaller and smaller, transport simulations based on the quantum mechanics become more and more important. There are currently numerous textbooks on the basic concepts of quantum transport, but few present calculation methods in detail. This book provides various quantum transport simulation methods and shows applications for transport properties of nanometer-scale systems. It starts with a short review of quantum transport, followed by various calculation methods based on scattering approaches, non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF), master equation, and time-dependent wave-packet diffusion (TD-WPD). With these tools, transport properties of various nanosystems are then explored.

Book Synopsis The Method of Local Perturbations in the Theory of Nanosystems by : Alexander M. Ermolaev
Download or read book The Method of Local Perturbations in the Theory of Nanosystems written by Alexander M. Ermolaev and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022-07-29 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to the description of physical effects caused by resonant scattering of quasiparticles by isolated impurity atoms, which can localize electrons and phonons in nanosystems. It takes as its starting point the model of local perturbations by I.M. Lifshits, within which short-range impurity atoms are located at random points of the system. The role of a single impurity center in such systems increases with decreasing size. This book presents the first-ever application of the method of local perturbations to describe the physical properties of a wide range of nanosystems.

Book Synopsis Topics In Nanoscience - Part I: Basic Views, Complex Nanosystems: Typical Results And Future by : Wolfram Schommers
Download or read book Topics In Nanoscience - Part I: Basic Views, Complex Nanosystems: Typical Results And Future written by Wolfram Schommers and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-12-17 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the development of the scanning tunneling microscope, nanoscience became an important discipline. Single atoms could be manipulated in a controlled manner, and it became possible to change matter at its 'ultimate' level; it is the level on which the properties of matter emerge. This possibility enables to construct and to produce devices, materials, etc. with very small sizes and completely new properties. That opens up new perspectives for technology and is in particular relevant in connection with nano-engineering.Nanosystems are unimaginably small and very fast. No doubt, this is an important characteristic. But there is another feature, possibly more relevant, in connection with nanoscience and nanotechnology. The essential point here is that we work at the 'ultimate level'. This is the smallest level at which the properties of our world emerge, at which functional matter can exist. In particular, at this level biological individuality comes into existence. This situation can be expressed in absolute terms: This is not only the strongest material ever made, this is the strongest material it will ever be possible to make (D Ratner and M Ratner, Nanotechnology and Homeland Security). This is a very general statement. All aspects of matter are concerned here. Through the variation of the composition various forms of matter emerge with different items.Nanosystems are usually small, but they offer nevertheless the possibility to vary the structure of atomic (molecular) ensembles, creating a diversity of new material-specific properties. A large variety of experimental possibilities come into play and flexible theoretical tools are needed at the basic level. This is reflected in the different disciplines: In nanoscience and nanotechnology we have various directions: Materials science, functional nanomaterials, nanoparticles, food chemistry, medicine with brain research, quantum and molecular computing, bioinformatics, magnetic nanostructures, nano-optics, nano-electronics, etc.The properties of matter, which are involved within these nanodisciplines, are ultimate in character, i.e., their characteristic properties come into existence at this level. The book is organized in this respect.

The only publication on quantum many body theoretical approach to synthesis of nano- and sub-nanoscale systems by design. Novel and existing many-body field theoretical, computational methods are developed and used to realize the theoretical predictions for materials for IR sensors, light sources, information storage and processing, electronics, light harvesting, etc. Novel algorithms for EMD and NEMD molecular simulations of the materials’ synthesis processes and charge-spin transport in synthesized systems are developed and described. Includes the first ever models of Ni-O quantum wires supported by existing experimental data. All-inclusive analysis of existing experimental data versus the obtained theoretical predictions and nanomaterials templates.
