Book Synopsis Statistics And Experimental Design For Psychologists: A Model Comparison Approach by : Rory Allen
Download or read book Statistics And Experimental Design For Psychologists: A Model Comparison Approach written by Rory Allen and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017-08-28 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first textbook for psychologists which combines the model comparison method in statistics with a hands-on guide to computer-based analysis and clear explanations of the links between models, hypotheses and experimental designs. Statistics is often seen as a set of cookbook recipes which must be learned by heart. Model comparison, by contrast, provides a mental roadmap that not only gives a deeper level of understanding, but can be used as a general procedure to tackle those problems which can be solved using orthodox statistical methods.Statistics and Experimental Design for Psychologists focusses on the role of Occam's principle, and explains significance testing as a means by which the null and experimental hypotheses are compared using the twin criteria of parsimony and accuracy. This approach is backed up with a strong visual element, including for the first time a clear illustration of what the F-ratio actually does, and why it is so ubiquitous in statistical testing. The book covers the main statistical methods up to multifactorial and repeated measures, ANOVA and the basic experimental designs associated with them. The associated online supplementary material extends this coverage to multiple regression, exploratory factor analysis, power calculations and other more advanced topics, and provides screencasts demonstrating the use of programs on a standard statistical package, SPSS.Of particular value to third year undergraduate as well as graduate students, this book will also have a broad appeal to anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the scientific method.
Book Synopsis Experiments and Modeling in Cognitive Science by : Fabien Mathy
Download or read book Experiments and Modeling in Cognitive Science written by Fabien Mathy and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-11-22 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software Simulation and Modeling in Psychology: MATLAB, SPSS, Excel and E-Prime describes all the stages of psychology experimentation, from the manipulation of factors, to statistical analysis, data modeling, and automated stimuli creation. The book shows how software can help automate various stages of the experiment for which operations may quickly become repetitive. For example, it shows how to compile data files (instead of opening files one by one to copy and paste), generate stimuli (instead of drawing one by one in a drawing software), and transform and recode tables of data. This type of modeling in psychology helps determine if a model fits the data, and also demonstrates that the algorithmic is not only useful, but essential for modeling data. - Covers the entire process of experimenting, from designing an experiment, to modeling the data - Shows how software can help automate various stages of the experiment for which operations may quickly become repetitive - Contains sections on how to compile data files (instead of opening files one by one to copy and paste) and generate stimuli (instead of drawing one by one in a drawing software)

Book Synopsis Psychologie statistique avec R by : Yvonnick Noël
Download or read book Psychologie statistique avec R written by Yvonnick Noël and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2015-01-27T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Reintroducing Gabriel Tarde by : Sergio Tonkonoff
Download or read book Reintroducing Gabriel Tarde written by Sergio Tonkonoff and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-02-13 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a new introduction to the thought of Gabriel Tarde, highlighting the continuing relevance, and even the novelty, of both his general theoretical approach and many of his specific analyses. Showing that Tarde elaborates a comprehension of the social that was received with difficulty in his time but is increasingly akin to ours, it demonstrates that the infinitesimal sociology offered to us by Tarde provides a framework through which we can understand a whole range of social phenomena. With attention to social networks, public opinion, innovation, diffusion, virality and virtuality—all of which were topics addressed by Tarde himself—the author clarifies and elaborates upon Tarde’s central theses on the multiple, differential, infinitesimal and infinite nature of both the social and the subjective. An examination of the importance of a figure whose work looked ahead to our own age, Reintroducing Gabriel Tarde will appeal to scholars and students of social sciences and social theory with interests in contemporary social thought.

Book Synopsis Etudes et leçons sur la Révolution Française by : Alphonse Aulard
Download or read book Etudes et leçons sur la Révolution Française written by Alphonse Aulard and published by . This book was released on 1913 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alphonse Aulard (1849-1928) was the first French historian to use nineteenth-century historicist methods in the study of the French Revolution. Pioneered by German historians such as Leopold van Ranke, this approach emphasised empiricism, objectivity and the scientific pursuit of facts. Aulard's commitment to archival investigation is evidenced by the many edited collections of primary sources that appear in his extensive publication record. In these eight volumes of papers analysing the French Revolution (published 1893-1921), Aulard sought to apply the principles of historicism to reveal the truth. The work draws on earlier journal articles and lectures which Aulard delivered as Professor of the History of the French Revolution at the Sorbonne, a post he had held since 1885. Volume 7 (1913) includes essays on feudalism under Louis XVI, regionalism, centralisation, Carlyle's history of the Revolution (also reissued in this series), economic history, and Aulard's personal reflections on his teaching career.

This book was released on 2022-02-21 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers various ways in which analyzing professional experience and activity in simulation training makes it possible to describe practice-based learning affordances and processes. Research has been conducted in various simulation programs in the domains of healthcare, victim rescue and population protection, involving healthcare workers, firemen, policemen, servicemen, and civil security leaders. "Work-as-done" (/ "training-as-done") in simulation has been analyzed with ergonomics, occupational psychology, and vocational training approaches. The authors describe and discuss theoretical, methodological, and/or practical issues related to practitioner experience and activity in simulation training. The book also provides evidence on the conditions under which lived experience in simulation can foster or hinder learning, and derives appropriate orientations for simulation design and implementation.
