Book excerpt: If you were "arrested" for being a Christian - would there be enough "evidence" to "convict" you? The reference here is to a TRUE Christian and not one in name only or according to the accepted meaning of the term by ANY religion, religious tradition or church. The word Christian simply means little Christ, Christ like, or a follower, disciple or imitator of Christ. Since Jesus Christ Himself (not any church, religion or religious organization) is the author AND finisher of the Christian FAITH - is there enough evidence in your LIFE as a professing Christian - according to HIS requirements for discipleship in the gospels - to PROVE that you TRULY are HIS follower or imitator? Or would you be "guilty" of being "churchy" or "religious"? The Bible clearly reveals that Jesus calls ALL of HIS followers to a lifestyle that includes a FULL-TIME commitment to establish, expand and maintain the Kingdom of God on earth. THAT is the gospel of the Kingdom of God that JESUS AND His disciples preached AND practiced. However, because of the "traditions of men" that have been handed down to us for generations - Christians have not been taught this for the most part. Therefore, as a substitute for that they have inadvertently created something called "Churchanity." It has been said that if you do not understand the purpose of something (or someone such as Christ) you will inevitably misuse or misapply it (or Him). Ironically, Christians have done this exact thing with the very Christ of their faith. This book exposes "Churchanity" for the TOTAL and COMPLETE fraud that it is. "Churchanity" is a FALSE, religious system WITHIN Christianity. Yet "Churchanity" actually compromises MOST of what we know AS "Christianity" today. "Churchanity" PRIMARILY focuses on an EVENT called a "church service." This is the CENTER of THIS "religious system." It generally involves having a "building" in which to have the "service" and a "professional minister" to CONDUCT the "service." Most of the "activity" of the local "church" centers around this "event" or at least it is for the purpose of supporting this "form" of "church structure" or "function." The author agrees that the Bible tells believers to meet together regularly for their Christian growth. Furthermore, he recognizes that there is certainly NOTHING wrong with having a place to do so (even one that they rent or own). He also acknowledges that God DIFINITELY desires Christians to give to the "needy among them" (which could also include their leaders). But he affirms that NONE of THOSE things should be the FOCUS of their spiritual life OR their PRIMARY FORM of spiritual service to the Lord. Yet THAT is what Christians have made it. THAT is NOT Christianity. It is "Churchanity." Therefore, this book is written in the format of a "court trial." The author is playing the part of the prosecuting attorney, God of course is the Judge and professing Christians are "on trial" for the sin of "hypocrisy" and for "crimes" against the Kingdom of God. These "crimes" are - being AWOL from "active duty," being a "deserter" in a "time of war" and the ultimate "crime" of "HIGH TREASON" for being a "traitor" to the Kingdom of God! In this book Christians will be challenged to reexamine EVERYTHING they ever thought they believed about God, Jesus, Christianity and the Church. The Bible plainly teaches that God wants believers to be wholeheartedly committed to HIM according to HIS discipleship requirements - rather than have a half-hearted, surface commitment that majors on church attendance. The author spent many years fasting, praying, studying and researching to come to these conclusions. Therefore, Christians should take advantage of his unique insight into this matter to determine IF there actually IS enough evidence to convict them of being a REAL disciple of Jesus or not. THIS is NOT something that they should leave to chance or just hope for the best. Spending an ETERNITY IN HELL is no laughing matter!

Book excerpt: Widely heralded for his bold and prophetic ethical thought, Maguire urges that Christianity's real relevance for the renewal of American public life lies not in the myopic morality of the Christian Right nor in any particular program of the Left but in the enduring relevance of Jesus and biblical Christianity. His new work builds on his earlier volume, The Moral Core of Judaism and Christianity, with the benefit of a new generation of social studies of the New Testament and a keen appreciation for the radically changed situation Christians confront today. Daniel C. Maguire is Professor of Ethics at Marquette University, a past president of the Society of Christian Ethics, and president of the Religious Consultation on Population, Reproductive Health and Ethics. A frequent lecturer and media commentator, Maguire is author of many influential works in ethics, such as Death by Choice (1974), The Moral Choice (1975), The Moral Revolution (1986), Sacred Energies (Fortress Press 2000), and Sacred Choices (Fortress Press 2001).

Book excerpt: Life in society means more than just living together with others; it also means relating with others, giving oneself to others, and contributing to the good of all. In Beyond Good Intentions, author Juan Lorda shows that Christian morality is more than a list of do’s and don’ts but can in fact be summarized as “the art of living.” It guides Christians to live so that their actions are consistent with their inner convictions. The author shows today’s readers the beauty and reasonableness of Christian living. We are led to see that the essence of Christian morality is not an assemblage of abstract principles, but is a call to a sincere relationship with a real historical person: Jesus of Nazareth, the God–man who shares our life with us. Rev. Juan Luis Lorda has authored 12 books on biblical anthropology, catechetics, and theology. Born in Spain in 1955, he was ordained a priest for the Opus Dei Prelature in 1983 and has taught at the University of Navarre for many years. He is a member of the advisory council on catechetics for the Spanish Bishops Conference, and a frequent contributor to magazines and newspapers, both religious and secular.

Book excerpt: This book also answers critical questions such as: what does Jehovah God really think about the religious division that exists today? Does He want unity instead? In this book I have explained what the Bible says about the meaning of the word CHURCH, characteristics of Christian and Non-Christian Churches, church membership, the purpose of the church, Church Governance or management and Administration, Church Conflict and resolution etc.To many people, “Church” includes hundreds of different denominations or religions that disagree with one another in name, organization, doctrine, worship, and plan of salvation. Such a situation clearly constitutes division, not unity. Yet all the denominations claim to be Church of Jesus Christ.Contact the author on www.facebook.com/Yefulkay and [email protected] him on the following links belowhttp://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Yefulkayhttp://www.shopmybook.com/en/my-bookshttp://www.sbpra.com/yefulkaywww.facebook.com/yefulkayhttp://yefulkay.wordpress.com/https://twitter.com/mkacquahhttp://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/yefulkaygh.linkedin.com/pub/maxwell-kobina-acquah/61/20a/611/MATTHEW 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.JOHN 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.Jeremiah 30:2 – thus speaketh Lord God of Israel, saying write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

Is it plausible that such a god would choose to create and communicate with humanity? Can we trust the alleged eyewitness testimony to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus? Mark Lanier, one of America's top trial lawyers, brings a legal eye to examine the plausibility of the Christian faith. Explaining the rules that courts follow to determine the likelihood of truth, he interrogates key witnesses from throughout history to explore whether it makes sense to accept the Christian world-view or not. We must choose what is worthy of belief and what is not. Weigh the arguments and decide for yourself.

Book excerpt: "Nominal Christianity" is the result of a burden for what may be the largest mission field of our time: nominal Christianity, which is made up of millions upon millions of those who claim to be Christian but have almost no understanding of what the Lord requires of those who follow Him. In presenting this information, author Richard Nolte claims no new insight or revelation but instead attempts to show, by numerous quotations by true believers from the time of Christ through the present, that there have always been a few-a remnant of true believers that have adhered to the principles of our Lord, know His voice, worship Him in spirit and truth, and experience the miraculous power of God in their lives. At the same time they have been surrounded by nominal Christians-those who know who Christ is, profess Him with their mouth, establish organizations or denominations, claim to have the correct doctrine, and become so set in their delusions that they persecute the true and faithful followers of Christ, those who will not conform to worldly religious standards and are labeled heretics and infidels. This book will expose nominal Christianity.

Book excerpt: Crucialism is an ethos theology that specifically explicates and exhorts the lived out dynamics of faith, truths, morals, and values as they apply to a person or people's in relationship with the contemporary milieu. The intersect of faith, truths, morals, and values and the contemporary milieu is what determines the emphases in an ethos theology. Crucialism is based on the premise that third millennium Catholics, along with their contemporaries, are enmeshed in a confusing maze of relativism and escapism, all enabled and enhanced by material abundance and technological advances. As such, crucialism aims at an essential and relevant presentation of not only divinely revealed truths, but those of natural law as well."Grace builds upon nature," and thus grace is most efficaciously placed upon a firm foundation of nature. However, today there is a disconnect and rejection of both nature and natural law. The truths of faith and reason designated as crucial and highlighted herein, aim at challenging third millennium Christians to their courageous, countercultural, and militant implementation.Serendipitously enough, crucial means both "cross-conformed" and "of vital importance." For the Christian, the Cross is indeed of singular vital importance: "Jesus said to his disciples: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." MT 16:24. In practice, it is being conformed to the Holy Cross and to Christ Crucified that is of the most vital importance to the Christian. As such, crucialism aims to highlight those essentials of the Gospel that will most saliently mandate the Christian's embrace of the Holy Cross in the dawning third millennium, and thus most adequately ensure the perseverance in, and the promulgation of, the Holy Catholic Faith.

Book excerpt: Every Christian needs dependable role models to whom one can look for teaching and example. Many of the greatest role models have departed from this life, but their legacy lives on. Believers of this day and age can learn much about a godly life from saints of the past. Athanasius, John Owen, and J. Gresham Machen are three such saints. Each stood for the truth of God's Word in the face of opposition-all out of a deep love for Christ and a desire for people to know God as he truly is. Popularity was not a concern, and they took no joy in controversy for argument's sake. However, these men were willing to suffer for the sake of guarding the sanctity of the gospel. Many threats, years of exile, deaths of loved ones, opposition from friends and authorities, sickness and pain-none of these setbacks could keep these three from maintaining their efforts for the furthering of Christ's Kingdom or quench their zeal for Christ himself. John Piper's Contending for Our All gives us biographies of Athanasius, John Owen, and J. Gresham Machen-bishop, pastor, and seminary founder. In the life of each one, personal holiness was emphasized publicly and privately despite suffering. They were true soldiers for the sake of the cross, and each man offers life lessons for Christians today
