This book was released on 1994-04-26 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This international meeting on ultrahigh energy multiparticle phenomena started with a summary of neutrino physics, followed by a detailed review of LEP results. It moved on to the fast-breaking field of rapidity gaps, hard pomeron and small-x structure functions at both Hera and the FermiLab Tevatron. The major collider experiments at FermiLab, and in particular, the results of the top quark search were presented in complete detail. The fields of intermittency, multiplicities, correlation functions, heavy quarks, soft and semihard hadronic physics, and the particle physics aspects of cosmic rays were subjects of spirited debate.

Book excerpt: This was the most recent in a highly esteemed series of biannual Rochester conferences. 20 invited reviews and about 200 invited contributions on all aspects of current research in high energy and particle physics give a complete and lively account of achievements, activities and goals in the field. Topics discussed include results from proton-antiproton and electron-positron colliders, spectroscopy and decays of heavy flavors, weak mixing and CP violation, non-accelerator particle physics, heavy ion collisions, future accelerators, detector developments, the standard electroweak model and beyond, the status of perturbative QCD, superstrings and unification, new developments in field theory, non-perturbative methods, and cosmology and astrophysics.
Book Synopsis Physics and Astrophysics of Neutrinos by : Masataka Fukugita
Download or read book Physics and Astrophysics of Neutrinos written by Masataka Fukugita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-14 with total page 947 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observations of neutrinos being emitted by the supernova SN1987A, star neutrinos, and atmospheric neutrinos have provided new insights into astronomy, as well as new unresolved phenomena such as the solar neutrino problem, spurring investigative studies among particle physicists and astrophysicists. One of the most important features of this book is its enumeration of a number of basic properties of neutrinos and their relationship to Grand Unified Theories, focusing on the origin of the neutrino's mass and the generation mixing of neutrinos. All the kamiokande results, detector performances, and complete references are included.

Book Synopsis Properties Of Susy Particles - Proceedings Of The 23rd Workshop Of The Infn Eloisatron Project by : Luisa Cifarelli
Download or read book Properties Of Susy Particles - Proceedings Of The 23rd Workshop Of The Infn Eloisatron Project written by Luisa Cifarelli and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-01-18 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this workshop, the super high energy and luminosity frontiers of subnuclear physics were actively investigated. A conceptual design of the highest energy (100+100 TeV) proton-proton collider — the Eloisatron — already exists. There are many reasons to believe that supersymmetry and its local version, supergravity, could be relevant in a fundamental theory of particle reactions. The minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM) is today phenomenologically acceptable, theoretically motivated and calculable. The present and future colliders can play a crucial role in testing supersymmetry experimentally. The purpose of the workshop was therefore to review the main features of the MSSM as well as the possible non-minimal models and the issue of gauge coupling unification. Emphasis was given to theoretical and experimental results relevant to supersymmetric particle searches at present and future colliders.

This book was released on 2001-01-03 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UNDER THE SPELL OF THE GAUGE PRINCIPLE — by G 't HooftThe University of Bologna and its Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics and the Italian Physical Society, celebrated in 1998 the bicentenary of a great pioneer in the field of electric phenomena — Luigi Galvani, the father of macroelectricity. During these two centuries, the physics of electric phenomena has given rise first to the Maxwell equations, then to quantum electrodynamics, and finally to the synthesis of all reproducible phenomena, the “Standard Model”. A cornerstone of the Standard Model is quantum chromodynamics (QCD), which describes the interaction between quarks and gluons in the innermost part of the structure of matter. The discovery of QCD will be recalled in the future as one of the greatest achievements of mankind. Many physicists, the world over, have contributed to its creation on both the experimental and the theoretical front. Professor Antonino Zichichi has played an important role in this scientific venture, as documented by his works which are reproduced in this invaluable volume. One of the founders of European physics, Professor Victor F Weisskopf, contributes with his memories of the time when QCD had many problems. This volume owes its existence to a founding father of QCD, Professor Vladimir N Gribov, whose sudden demise prevented him from directly contributing to its final edition. Two world leaders in subnuclear theoretical physics, Professors Gerardus 't Hooft and Gabriele Veneziano, illustrate the significance of the contributions of Antonino Zichichi in QCD.
