Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Get up to speed with digital holography with this concise and straightforward introduction to modern techniques and conventions. Building up from the basic principles of optics, this book describes key techniques in digital holography, such as phase-shifting holography, low-coherence holography, diffraction tomographic holography and optical scanning holography, discussing their practical applications, and accompanied by all the theory necessary to understand the underlying principles at work. A further chapter covers advanced techniques for producing computer-generated holograms. Extensive Matlab code is integrated with the text throughout and available for download online, illustrating both theoretical results and practical considerations such as aliasing, zero padding and sampling. Accompanied by end-of-chapter problems and an online solutions manual for instructors, this is an indispensable resource for students, researchers and engineers in the fields of optical image processing and digital holography.

Book Synopsis Methods for Computer Design of Diffractive Optical Elements by : Victor A. Soifer
Download or read book Methods for Computer Design of Diffractive Optical Elements written by Victor A. Soifer and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 2002 with total page 792 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first inclusive book on the cutting-edge field of modern optics and its applications For the first time, all the major aspects of designing planar DOEs are covered in one book, comprised of original methods developed by experts at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Image Processing Systems Institute. The breadth of Methods for Computer Design of Diffractive Optical Elements covers DOE production, beginning from the design techniques and the software, to the fabrication technology, experimental studies, and testing of DOEs, including all major DOE application fields and DOE types. The contributors also detail the three key approaches to designing phase DOEs: a geometric optics (ray-tracing) method, the scalar diffraction (Kirchhoff) method, and the rigorous design based on electromagnetic theory. Methods for Computer Design of Diffractive Optical Elements is an estimable reference for experts in the aerospace industry, research and development institutes, the automobile industry, as well as students and university professors.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Tenth International Symposium on Acoustical Imaging held in Cannes, France, October 12th through the 16th, 1980. Fifty-seven papers were presented over the course of the four day meeting. Fifty-two manuscripts were received in time for publication of the proceedings. There was representation from 14 nations, including England, France, U.S.A., West Germany, Canada, Italy, Japan, Poland, The Netherlands and Norway among the authors and in addition, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, and Denmark were represented. The following papers were presented at the meeting for which manuscripts were not received in time for publication: "Improved Phased Array Imaging and Medical Diagnosis" by F.L. Thurstone; "Scanning Acoustic Microscope Operating in the Reflection Mode" by H. Kanda, I. Ishikawa, T. Kondo, and K. Katakura; "Empirical Determination of Flaw Characteristics Using the Scanning Laser Acoustic Microscope - SLAM" by D. Yuhes, C.L. Forres, and L.W. Kessler; "A Wide Angled Fraction Limited Holographic Lens System for Acoustical Imaging" by H. Heier; "Progress in the Development of Sonographic Contrast Agents" by J. Ophir, and F. Maklad, A. Gobuty and R.E. McWhirt.

Book Synopsis Playful Materialities by : Benjamin Beil
Download or read book Playful Materialities written by Benjamin Beil and published by transcript Verlag. This book was released on 2022-09-30 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Game culture and material culture have always been closely linked. Analog forms of rule-based play (ludus) would hardly be conceivable without dice, cards, and game boards. In the act of free play (paidia), children as well as adults transform simple objects into multifaceted toys in an almost magical way. Even digital play is suffused with material culture: Games are not only mediated by technical interfaces, which we access via hardware and tangible peripherals. They are also subject to material hybridization, paratextual framing, and processes of de-, and re-materialization.
Book Synopsis Experimental Stress Analysis by : H. Wieringa
Download or read book Experimental Stress Analysis written by H. Wieringa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing and manufacturing structures of all kinds in an economic and a safe way is not possible without doing experimental stress analysis. The modernity of structures, with their higher reliability demands, as well as today's more stringent safety rules and extreme environmental conditions necessitate the improvement of the measuring technique and the introduction of new ones. Although theoretical/mathematical analysis is improving enormously, an example of which is the finite element model, it cannot replace experimental analysis and vice versa. Moreover, the mathematical analysis needs more and more accurate parameter data which in turn need improved experimental investigations. No one can do all those investigations on his own. Exchange of knowledge and experience in experimental stress analysis is a necessity, a thing acknowledged by every research worker. Therefore, the objective of the Permanent Committee for Stress Analysis (PC SA) is to promote the organization of conferences with the purpose disseminating new research and new measuring techniques as well as improvements in existing techniques, and furthermore, to promote the exchange of experiences of practical applications with techniques. rhis Vlllth International Conference on Experimental Stress Analysis on behalf of the PC SA is one in a series which started in 1959 at Delft (NL), and was followed by conferences at Paris (F), Berlin-W, Cambridge (~K), Udine (I), Munich (FRG) and Haifa (Isr.). Such a Conference will be held in Europe every fourth year, half-way bewteen the IUTAM Congresses.
Book Synopsis The International Symposium on Display Holography by : Tung H. Jeong
Download or read book The International Symposium on Display Holography written by Tung H. Jeong and published by Lake Forest College. This book was released on 1989-06-01 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Symposia on Display Holography (ISDH) are triennial events held in Lake Forest College, bringing together some of the most outstanding scientists, engineers, technicians, artists, as well as entrepreneurs from many countries for a week of congenial information exchange. The PROCEEDINGS are collections of papers presented by these practitioners. By concentrating on both technical & artistic display, i.e., image holography, a deeper level of theoretical & practical details are reached. Many techniques discovered through laboratory experience are presented for the first time in these volumes. Typically, all three volumes contain historical & state-of-the-art reviews by Emmett Leith, honorary chairman; the latest information on new materials & chemical processing; unique system setups; new equipment & optical elements; & artistic concepts & techniques. In addition: Volume I features articles on dichromated gelatin, multiplex (integral) holographic system design, color control techniques in reflection & transmission holograms, & techniques in gallery & museum exhibitions. Volume II adds articles on fiber optics, light-in-flight recording, chemical safety, computer-aided design, state of business, & education as well as updating on all other areas. Volume III adds reports from nations, medical imaging, mass production technology, relativity, & an updating on all other areas.
