Book Synopsis Assessment for Learning: Meeting the Challenge of Implementation by : Dany Laveault
Download or read book Assessment for Learning: Meeting the Challenge of Implementation written by Dany Laveault and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-15 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides new perspectives on Assessment for Learning (AfL), on the challenges encountered in its implementation, and on the diverse ways of meeting these challenges. It brings together contributions from authors working in a wide range of educational contexts: Australia, Canada, England, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Israel, Philippines, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States. It reflects the issues, innovations, and critical reflections that are emerging in an expanding international network of researchers, professional development providers, and policy makers, all of whom work closely with classroom teachers and school leaders to improve the assessment of student learning. The concept of Assessment for Learning, initially formulated in 1999 by the Assessment Reform Group in the United Kingdom, has inspired new ways of conceiving and practicing classroom assessment in education systems around the world. This book examines assessment for learning in a broad perspective which includes diverse approaches to formative assessment (some emphasizing teacher intervention, others student involvement in assessment), as well as some forms of summative assessment designed to support student learning. The focus is on assessment in K-12 classrooms and on the continuing professional learning of teachers and school leaders working with these classrooms. Readers of this volume will encounter well documented accounts of AfL implementation across a large spectrum of conditions in different countries and thereby acquire better understanding of the challenges that emerge in the transition from theory and policy to classroom practice. They will also discover a wealth of ideas for implementing assessment for learning in an effective and sustainable manner. The chapters are grouped in three Parts: (1) Assessment Policy Enactment in Education Systems; (2) Professional Development and Collaborative Learning about Assessment; (3) Assessment Culture and the Co-Regulation of Learning. An introduction to each Part provides an overview and presents the suggestions and recommendations formulated in the chapters.
Download or read book Cosmodynamics written by Bruce D Jimerson and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-07-07 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is a book for everyone who has pondered the mystery of natures forces. Like an enthralling novel, the plot unfolds to reveal the simplicity of the universe and its dependence upon a single dynamic. Although familiarity with mathematical methods is presumed, much of this work can be appreciated by those qualified only with the desire to pursue such ultimate questions. The Cosmodynamic Thesis depends neither from Hypothetical particles nor unsupported suppositions. The story of the universe and its evolution are predicted by an intrinsic but hitherto overlooked apotheosis of expansion. Interspersed with historical commentary, reflective cartoons and philosophical quotes; here is a work that challenges every theory of the universe based upon the primacy of particles. It is not a theory everything (TOE), but rather, a theory of nothing (TON) - the non-material stuff that determines the origin and destiny of the cosmos. In the end, the reader will wonder how it could be otherwise. A PDF Preview of Chapter I is available directly from the author without charge. Email request to: [email protected]

Book Synopsis Cinema and Politics by : Aslı Kotaman
Download or read book Cinema and Politics written by Aslı Kotaman and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-01-14 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents varied approaches concerning the relation between cinema and politics which focus on policies, eras, countries, mainstream and art cinema productions, transnational examples, changing narratives and identities. Both cinema and politics have actors and directors for their scenes, and in this sense their discourses intermingle. The performances of the “actors/actresses” in both arenas attract particular attention. The actors, directors, and producers with ‘hyphenated/creolised/hybrid identities’ such as German-Turks, directors of Balkan cinema, or Italian filmmakers of Turkish origin give a wide and refreshing perspective to the discussion of Europe in the media. What these ‘mediated identities’ represent goes beyond the limits of the old Europe, towards the different sensitivity of the New Europe. Scholars and advanced students of Film Studies, European Studies, Identity Politics, Migration / Emigration and Gender Studies will find this volume of integral importance to their work.

This theme was formulated due to several considerations. First, the symptoms of moral decline that have the potential to destroy the nation. Morals guide humanity towards truth and civilization. The phenomenon of the dehumanization process in the industrial era that pushed people to be part of abstract societies tends to ignore humanity. The education process as a humanitarian system is increasingly marginalized, especially during discussions about the industrial revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. The conference placed six sub-themes for speakers and participants to share ideas, namely: Social Sciences and Laws, History and Cultural Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Morals and Humanities, Policy, Politics, and Communication, Education. The committee has received 195 abstracts from prospective speakers. However, there are only 80 abstracts that are eligible to be presented at this conference.

Book Synopsis The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf by : Hans Christian Andersen
Download or read book The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf written by Hans Christian Andersen and published by Lindhardt og Ringhof. This book was released on 2020-06-29 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inger was a little girl but she was a bad person. This was obvious even when she was very small: she enjoyed catching insects and tearing off their wings without any pity for the poor creatures. When she was a bit bigger, her parents sent her to the country to a good family. Here, she became very refined and, going to visit her parents, decided to walk on her bread rather than in the marsh so she would not dirty her shoes. And this is where her real story begins... Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children’s literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Match Girl". His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "The Little Mermaid" in 1989 and "Frozen", which is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.
