Book Synopsis Motives, Quantum Field Theory, and Pseudodifferential Operators by : Alan L. Carey
Download or read book Motives, Quantum Field Theory, and Pseudodifferential Operators written by Alan L. Carey and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2010 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains articles related to the conference ``Motives, Quantum Field Theory, and Pseudodifferntial Operators'' held at Boston University in June 2008, with partial support from the Clay Mathematics Institute, Boston University, and the National Science Foundation. There are deep but only partially understood connections between the three conference fields, so this book is intended both to explain the known connections and to offer directions for further research. In keeping with the organization of the conference, this book contains introductory lectures on each of the conference themes and research articles on current topics in these fields. The introductory lectures are suitable for graduate students and new Ph.D.'s in both mathematics and theoretical physics, as well as for senior researchers, since few mathematicians are expert in any two of the conference areas. Among the topics discussed in the introductory lectures are the appearance of multiple zeta values both as periods of motives and in Feynman integral calculations in perturbative QFT, the use of Hopf algebra techniques for renormalization in QFT, and regularized traces of pseudodifferential operators. The motivic interpretation of multiple zeta values points to a fundamental link between motives and QFT, and there are strong parallels between regularized traces and Feynman integral techniques. The research articles cover a range of topics in areas related to the conference themes, including geometric, Hopf algebraic, analytic, motivic and computational aspects of quantum field theory and mirror symmetry. There is no unifying theory of the conference areas at present, so the research articles present the current state of the art pointing towards such a unification.

Download or read book String-Math 2012 written by Ron Donagi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-09-30 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the conference String-Math 2012, which was held July 16-21, 2012, at the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, Universität Bonn. This was the second in a series of annual large meetings devoted to the interface of mathematics and string theory. These meetings have rapidly become the flagship conferences in the field. Topics include super Riemann surfaces and their super moduli, generalized moonshine and K3 surfaces, the latest developments in supersymmetric and topological field theory, localization techniques, applications to knot theory, and many more. The contributors include many leaders in the field, such as Sergio Cecotti, Matthias Gaberdiel, Rahul Pandharipande, Albert Schwarz, Anne Taormina, Johannes Walcher, Katrin Wendland, and Edward Witten. This book will be essential reading for researchers and students in this area and for all mathematicians and string theorists who want to update themselves on developments in the math-string interface.
Book Synopsis Theory of Elementary Particles by : Harald Dorn
Download or read book Theory of Elementary Particles written by Harald Dorn and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1998-10-27 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: H. Dorn, D. Lüst, G. Weight (eds.) Theory of Elementary Particles Following a long-standing tradition, the 1997 Symposium Ahrenshoop brought together a remarkable set of leading scientists in both string theory and lattice theory. The contributions in this volume represent a big part of the most active research in these rapidly advancing fields. Experts from Europe, the USA, Russia, India and Japan discuss their recent results on strings, branes, M-theory, lattice gauge theory and non-perturbative QCD. A major issue is the comparison of non-perturbative results obtained in (supersymmetric) field theories or superstring theory with results from lattice models. An invaluable source of topical information for every scientist working in elementary particle theory!
