Download or read book Juan Goytisolo and the Poetics of Contagion written by Stanley Black and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Juan Goytisolo is arguably Spain’s foremost contemporary novelist. This book is one of the few major studies in English to examine all of his mature works, from Señas de identidad in 1966 to Las semanas del jardín, published in 1997. It focuses on the interface between the thematic content of the novels and its formal expression, viewing this as the crucial nexus of their meaning. Goytisolo’s writing is, in his own words, a "commitment of myself ... for a transformation of the world". The Poetics of Contagion dissects the nature of the relationship between writer and reader to show how Goytisolo’s political commitment is reflected in his work.

Book Synopsis La traducción de literatura árabe contemporánea by : Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla
Download or read book La traducción de literatura árabe contemporánea written by Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla and published by Univ de Castilla La Mancha. This book was released on 2000 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Charting the courses of interliterary relations between Spain and Spanish America, the book analyzes the conditions of the literary market during the 1960s and 1970s, follows the appropriation and canonization of Latin American authors and texts by readers and writers, and examines their impact on the resurgence of regional literatures within Spanish territory.

Book Synopsis The Contemporary Spanish Novel by : Samuel Amell
Download or read book The Contemporary Spanish Novel written by Samuel Amell and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1996-01-19 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there are several annotated bibliographies of contemporary Spanish novelists, this book covers critical works published on the post civil war Spanish novel as a literary form. The volume cites books and articles, and each citation is accompanied by a descriptive and evaluative annotation. The work contains a section of entries on books and another on articles. Entries within each section are arranged alphabetically. Included are entries primarily for studies published in English or Spanish, though some in Catalan, French, Galician, and Italian are also cited. In the last decades, there has been an explosion of critical works on the post civil war Spanish novel. This proliferation of material causes serious problems for scholars conducting research on the subject. While there are bibliographies of particular novelists, this book deals with general studies of trends, topics, and comparative approaches. The volume primarily cites works published in English or Spanish, but it also includes some in Catalan, French, Galician, and Italian. The volume is divided into two sections—books and articles. Within each section, entries are arranged alphabetically. Each citation is accompanied by a descriptive and evaluative annotation. The annotations provide information about the topic, content, and methodology of the works cited and express an opinion of the works' value. The length of the annotations varies according to the importance of the topic. Author and title indexes add to the utility of the work.
Book Synopsis Canciones populares y literatura de África Oriental by : Aaron Louis Rosenberg
Download or read book Canciones populares y literatura de África Oriental written by Aaron Louis Rosenberg and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2013 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2019-10-02 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study, originally published in 1990, assesses a shift in the presentation of self-consciousness in two pairs of novels by Doris Lessing and Carmen Martín Gaite: 1) Lessing’s The Summer Before the Dark (1973) and Martín Gaite’s Retahílas (1974) and 2) Lessing’s The Memoirs of a Survivor (1974) and Martín Gaite’s The Back Room (1978). Three major structural divisions facilitate examining implications of the novels for 1) feminism 2) literary narrative and 3) the lives of people-at-large.
