Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the incredible story of one woman's adventure into the heart of the rainforest. As a young child, Sarah Woods imagined going on epic voyages to exotic, illusory lands filled with bizarre creatures, intoxicating rhythms, vibrant colours and other-worldly forests. As soon as she was old enough she packed a bag and set off to see the world for real, leaving friends and family behind to fulfil her childhood dreams. To journey solo through Central and South America was perhaps the ultimate challenge. Leaving the tourist traps behind, Sarah ventured into the wilderness, experiencing disease-ridden swamps, shark-infested waters and dense tracts of primary rainforest that are home to jaguars, anacondas and tusk-gnashing peccaries. One animal, though, is truly emblematic of these forests – the awe-inspiring harpy eagle. But to see it you have to be prepared for serious hardship... Facing gruelling, energy-sapping jungle conditions and constant challenges that saw her question the deepest and most intimate aspects of her life, Sarah's intrepid travels on the trail of iconic wildlife took her through some of the toughest terrain imaginable, and led to encounters with extraordinary indigenous people of the forest, with whom she experienced kindnesses and cultures beyond her wildest dreams.

Book excerpt: HISTORY OF THE COCONUT Olodumare saw in Obi (coconut), a just and humble person, therefore he placed him high in a coconut tree, and made him white inside, and out. He also gave him an immortal soul. Elegba who was always a true and trusted servant of Olodumare is also at the service of Obi. That is why Elegba knows all the friends of Obi, and Obi knows all the friends for Elegba, the poor, the rich, the clean, the dirty, the straight and the crooked. One day, Obi had feast for his birthday, and entrusted Elegba to invite all his friends. Elegba seeing how pretentious and arrogant Obi had become invited all the beggars, and dirty people of the town. When Obi arrived and saw in his house all the beggars and dirty people in his house, he became very angry, and asked the beggars who had invited them there. They replied Elegba who had invited them. At that Obi shouted, Ah, so it was Elegba who invited you was it, but dirty, and with those rags for clothes! Get out of here! He shouted, and with that all the embarrassed guest left, and with them went Elegba, Obi soon realized his error, and called Elegba, but Elegba did not listen, and kept walking. One day Olodumare asked Elegba to go to the house of Obi. However, Elegba refused and told him to send him anywhere else, and we would go right away beside the house of Obi he would not, and should not go. Olodumare pretending that he knew nothing of what had transpired, asked Elegba what he had against Obi. After hearing Elegba the details of the incident at Obis house, Olodumare transformed himself into the disguise of a beggar, and went calling at the door of Obi. When Obi saw that who was calling was a beggar, he indignantly said, Take a bath and get dressed before calling at my door, can you not see that you are dirty, do you want to dirty my furniture too? and with that, he slammed the door in the face of Olodumare. Olodumare took a few steps from Obis house, and then with a strong voice called Obi; Obi Meye Emi Ofe which means, Obi see who I am. When Obi was seen aware that it was Olodumare who had come calling at his door, he tried to excuse himself, and beg forgiveness but Oloduma said to him Obi it is too late, I thought you were natural and unpretentious, that is why I placed you high in the coconut tree, making you white inside and out. But having placed so high, you have to become vain, and have thrown the beggar from your house. Obi, those are my children too. I am going to leave you in the coconut tree, so that you may realize that no matter how high you are placed, you can never be higher than myself, Oloduma the creator God, or my divine laws. Therefore for as long as the earth exists, you will roll on the ground, and be transformed to green and black on the outside, but to remain white on the inside for your immortal soul. The black to remind you of the offense you made to the beggars and the green for the hope that someday you will be forgiven when you come to understand that all persons are my children. Meanwhile, you will predict the good and bad, and the death that will occur on earth. And with that began the tradition of reading the Obi at the feet of Elegba, and the other Orishas.

Download or read book Coconut written by Manuel Padilla Jr. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-11-08 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lives of a Mexican-American family living in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley during the turbulent 1960’s and 1970’s are the focus of Coconut: Brown on the Outside, White on the Inside. Despite living a middle class life, “The Rodrigos” have to endure terms like “wetback” and “beaner”– even though they don’t speak Spanish. To top it off, their daughter is a Chicano rights activist who is mixing with the wrong group of militants; their sister-in-law suffers at the hands of an abusive husband; and their precocious son is gifted and headed for the Ivy League, only his parents don’t have a clue what “gifted” means and are afraid of him deserting “la familia.” Sure, he could be one of the 8% of Latinos to graduate from college during that time – if racism, marginalization and his parents don’t extinguish his dream first. “Coconut” takes us back to a time when everything was “groovy,” and bell bottoms, brown power and disco collided with Civil Rights, earthquakes and the quest to be accepted as an American. If you’ve ever been called a “coconut,” “banana” or “Oreo,” this novel will leave you laughing, crying and better understanding what racism and life were like for people of color then – and why we are who we are today.

He realises that the elderly man who appears before him is a figment of his imagination, as her the sounds of music and laughter that float across the sea from an island that seems to be in the distant haze. One day he will find the courage to swim over to the island, following the sounds of music...
Book Synopsis Get Your Dreams Right and Be Successful by : Tella Olayeri

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book emphasizes on, it is good to interpret dreams shown in the spirit in order to fulfill your vision and mission. It is compelling to understand and decode the symbolic messages we receive in our dreams. Dreams, particularly those inspired by the Spirit, hold significant meaning and can offer guidance, warnings, or revelations about our personal lives, spiritual journey and future. By interpreting these dreams, individuals can uncover divine insights that propel them toward fulfilling their God-given purpose. Dreams are not random occurrences but spiritual communications. These are spiritual dreams. In real life we have dreams to fulfill. “Get your dream right and be successful” is a book that emphasizes the importance of clarity, purpose, and actionable steps in achieving success. Dreams, or long-term visions, are the driving force behind personal fulfillment and success, but only when they are pursued with the right mindset and strategy. Everyone has dreams, whether they are related to career, relationship, finance or personal growth. Once the dream is identified, the book shifts focus toward the practical steps necessary to turn the dream into reality. Another core concept is the importance of resilience and adaptability. The path to success is rarely direct but often filled with challenges and setbacks. However, these obstacles are framed as opportunities for growth rather than failures. The book encourages readers to stay committed to their vision, adjust their strategies when needed and maintain a positive, growth-oriented mindset. Moreover, the book discusses the significance of surrounding oneself with the right people. It advocates building a network of mentors, peers, and supporters who can provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement along the line. The right environment is to play critical role in maintaining motivation and focus. The book also talks in length about speaking against the spirit of arrogance and rudeness that chase loved ones and the likes away. The book portrays pride, rudeness or self-importance as a spiritual force that can blind individuals to their need for God and prevent them from cultivating humility. This book serves as both a motivational guide and a practical handbook for anyone looking to achieve their aspirations. It blends personal development techniques with actionable strategies, urging readers to dream big but also to plan well. It is said, success is not just about dreaming, but about turning those dreams into a reality with purpose, persistence and the right approach. You will gain much in this book among the followings: Clarity of Vision: You will learn how to clarify your dreams and set achievable goals.
