Book Synopsis Polarization and Interference Effects in Radiation Processes by : V. A. Astapenko
Download or read book Polarization and Interference Effects in Radiation Processes written by V. A. Astapenko and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This review presents results of recent investigations concerning the polarization and interference effects that arise in radiation processes such as Bremsstrahlung on targets with electron core, photo-effects in bichromatic electromagnetic field, femtosecond photon echo in nanocrystals, and associated phenomena. Some ideas are applied to the calculation of the cross section of atomic ionization by electron impact in the Born-Compton approximation. The results can be used for analyzing the radiation phenomena in plasmas in a wide temperature range including storage ring plasma.

Book excerpt: The book is devoted to the modern theory and experimental manifestation of Polarization Bremsstrahlung (PB) which arises due to scattering of charged particles from various targets: atoms, nanostructures (including atomic clusters, nanoparticle in dielectric matrix, fullerens, graphene-like two-dimensional atomic structure) and in condensed matter (monocrystals, polycrystals, partially ordered crystals and amorphous matter) The present book addresses mainly researchers interested in the radiative processes during the interaction between fast particles and matter. It also will be useful for post-graduate students specializing in radiation physics and related fields.

Book Synopsis Polarization Bremsstrahlung by : Andrey V. Korol
Download or read book Polarization Bremsstrahlung written by Andrey V. Korol and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-02-05 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces and reviews both theory and applications of polarizational bremsstrahlung, i.e. the electromagnetic radiation emitted during collisions of charged particles with structured, thus polarizable targets, such as atoms, molecules and clusters. The subject, following the first experimental evidence a few decades ago, has gained importance through a number of modern applications. Thus, the study of several radiative mechanisms is expected to lead to the design of novel light sources, operating in various parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Conversely, the analysis of the spectral and angular distribution of the photon emission constitutes a new tool for extracting information on the interaction of the colliding particles, and on their internal structure and dynamical properties. Last but not least, accurate quantitative descriptions of the photon emission processes determine the radiative energy losses of particles in various media, thereby providing essential information required for e.g. plasma diagnostics as well as astrophysical and medical applications (such as radiation therapy). This book primarily addresses graduate students and researchers with a background in atomic, molecular, optical or plasma physics, but will also be of benefit to anyone wishing to enter the field.

Book Synopsis Plasma Astrophysics by : S. A. Kaplan
Download or read book Plasma Astrophysics written by S. A. Kaplan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plasma Astrophysics is a translation from the Russian language; the topics discussed are based on lectures given by V.N. Tsytovich at several universities. The book describes the physics of the various phenomena and their mathematical formulation connected with plasma astrophysics. This book also explains the theory of the interaction of fast particles plasma, their radiation activities, as well as the plasma behavior when exposed to a very strong magnetic field. The text describes the nature of collective plasma processes and of plasma turbulence. One author explains the method of elementary excitation which he has developed. The book also discusses the sporadic radio-emission of the sun, galactic nuclei, radio-galaxies, quasars, and pulsars. The book explains that problems involving terrestrial plasma can be split into parts; in astrophysics, the approach is different. For example, particle acceleration is determined by turbulence spectra that in turn depends on the energy distribution of the accelerated particles. The authors also give theoretical results based on many calculations analysis of observational data: Tsytovich contributes new theoretical calculations. This book can prove helpful for nuclear scientists and researchers working with plasma physics or astro-physics.

Book Synopsis Effects of the Reentry Plasma Sheath on Microwave Antenna Performance by : J. Leon Poirier
Download or read book Effects of the Reentry Plasma Sheath on Microwave Antenna Performance written by J. Leon Poirier and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Trailblazer II rocket was launched on 18 June 1967 from the NASA wallops Island (Va.) Rocket Test Facility to study the properties of the reentry plasma sheath and its effects on microwave antenna performance. The reentry payload consisted of three major subsystems: a plasma diagnostic system, an S- band transponder system, and an X-band telemetry system. The flight data yielded (1) measurements of the influence of the plasma on the radiation pattern distortion, signal attenuation, and impedance mismatch for an S-band slot antenna located at the stagnation point of the nose cone; (2) measurements of the plasma sheath effects on the interantenna coupling between two S-band antennas on the nose cone; and (3) determinations of the electron density profile and gradients in the boundary layer about the nose cone.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The latest generation of high-power pulsed lasers has renewed interest in the ultra-relativistic effects produced by the interaction between laser beams and electrons. Synthesising previous research, this book presents a unitary treatment of the main effects that occur in the ultra-relativistic interactions between laser beams and electrons. It uses exact solutions of relativistic and classical quantum equations, including a new solution of the Dirac equation, to fully describe the field and model the main ultra-relativistic effects created within it.
