Book Synopsis Problems of Linear Electron (Polaron) Transport Theory in Semiconductors by : M. I. Klinger
Download or read book Problems of Linear Electron (Polaron) Transport Theory in Semiconductors written by M. I. Klinger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 950 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Problems of Linear Electron (Polaron) Transport Theory in Semiconductors summarizes and discusses the development of areas in electron transport theory in semiconductors, with emphasis on the fundamental aspects of the theory and the essential physical nature of the transport processes. The book is organized into three parts. Part I focuses on some general topics in the theory of transport phenomena: the general dynamical theory of linear transport in dissipative systems (Kubo formulae) and the phenomenological theory. Part II deals with the theory of polaron transport in a crystalline semiconductor. The last part contains a critical account of electron transport in disordered systems, including amorphous substances, with allowance for polaron effects.
Book Synopsis English Corpus Linguistics in Japan by : Toshio Saito
Download or read book English Corpus Linguistics in Japan written by Toshio Saito and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2002 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The existence of corpus-based linguistic research in Japan has until now mainly been hidden from the view of overseas researchers - partly by the language barrier, and partly by the continuing dominance of generative grammar in Japan. At last, this volume lifts the veil to reveal the current condition of corpus-based research in Japan. English Corpus Linguistics in Japan contains a collection of twenty papers written by Japanese linguists, reflecting the state of art in English corpus linguistics in Japan. The volume covers an impressively wide range, showcasing the diversity and creativity of corpus-based research in this country, from studies drawing on the 'old faithful' Brown and LOB Corpora as well as the more recent Frown, FLOB, the Bank of English and the British National Corpus to studies based on more specific historical, literary, spoken, and learner corpora; from investigations of major levels of language description, including prosody, lexis, morphology, syntax, and semantics to investigations of language variation; from explorations of single variables to those of multivariant dimensions; and from pedagogical applications to software applications. The papers are grouped into four sections: 1) Corpus-based studies of contemporary English, 2) Historical and diachronic studies of English, 3) English corpora and English language teaching, 4) Software for analyzing corpora. This volume will inspire still further corpus explorations in the future both in Japan and abroad.

Book Synopsis Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors by : J. Tauc
Download or read book Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors written by J. Tauc and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid state physics after solving so successfully many fundamental problems in perfect or slightly imperfect crystals, tried in recent years to attack problems associated with large disorder with the aim to understand the consequences of the lack of the long-range order. Semiconductors are much more changed by disorder than metals or insulators, and appear to be the most suitable materials for fundamental work. Considerable exploratory work on amorphous and liquid semiconductors was done by the Leningrad School since the early fifties. In recent years, much research in several countries was directed to deepen the understanding of the structural, electronic, optical, vibrational, magnetic and other proper ties of these materials and to possibly approach the present level of under standing of crystalline semiconductors. This effort was stimulated not only by purely scientific interest but also by the possibility of new applications from which memory devices in the general sense are perhaps the most challenging. The research met with serious difficulties which are absent in crystals.
Book Synopsis Semiconducting Chalcogenide Glass I by : Robert Fairman
Download or read book Semiconducting Chalcogenide Glass I written by Robert Fairman and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2004-05-10 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chalcogenide glass is made up of many elements from the Chalcogenide group. The glass is transparent to infrared light and is useful as a semiconductor in many electronic devices. For example, chalcogenide glass fibers are a component of devices used to perform laser surgery. This book is a comprehensive survey of the current state of science and technology in the field of chalcogenide semiconductor glasses. While the majority of the book deals with properties of chalcogenide glass, chapters also deal with industrial applications, synthesis and purification of chalcogenide glass, and glass structural modification. The first individual or collective monograph written by Eastern European scientists known to Western readers regarding structural and chemical changes in chalcogenide vitreous semiconductors(CVS)Chapters written by B.G. Kolomiets who discovered the properties of chalcogenide glass in 1955Provides evidence and discussion for problems discussed by authors from opposing positions.
Book Synopsis A Bridge between Conceptual Frameworks by : Raffaele Pisano
Download or read book A Bridge between Conceptual Frameworks written by Raffaele Pisano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-30 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes scientific problems within the history of physics, engineering, chemistry, astronomy and medicine, correlated with technological applications in the social context. When and how is tension between disciplines explicitly practised? What is the conceptual bridge between science researches and the organization of technological researches in the development of industrial applications? The authors explain various ways in which the sciences allowed advanced modelling on the one hand, and the development of new technological ideas on the other hand. An emphasis on the role played by mechanisms, production methods and instruments bestows a benefit on historical and scientific discourse: theories, institutions, universities, schools for engineers, social implications as well. Scholars from different traditions discuss the emergency style of thinking in methodology and, in theoretical perspective, aim to gather and re-evaluate the current thinking on this subject. It brings together contributions from leading experts in the field, and gives much-needed insight into the subject from a historical point of view. The volume composition makes for absorbing reading for historians, philosophers and scientists.
