Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Graduate Study in Psychology: Your Guide to Success author Tara Kuther takes the reader step-by-step through the graduate admissions process. She begins with posing the question of whether graduate school is right for everyone and the differences between pursuing a master's degree or a doctoral degree. The following chapters contain information regarding what graduate school is like, how to evaluate and choose the right graduate program for you, and what graduate schools are looking for in an applicant. Kuther also addresses how to improve an applicant's chances of getting selected for graduate school by improving credentials and obtaining research and applied experience during college. This book offers advice on how to seek financial aid to fund graduate education and a timetable for complying with admission application requirements. There are chapters that detail how to study for the Graduate Record Exam, how to write an admissions essay, how to prepare for interviews, and how to ask for letters of recommendation. Each chapter concludes with tips from graduate students about each challenge encountered. Graduate Study in Psychology closes with an appendix of resources and recommended readings and websites to help the reader at each stage of choosing, applying to, and succeeding in graduate school.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Research Design and Social Measurement by : Delbert C. Miller
Download or read book Handbook of Research Design and Social Measurement written by Delbert C. Miller and published by SAGE Publications. This book was released on 2002-01-16 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "If a student researcher had only one handbook on their bookshelf, Miller and Salkind's Handbook would certainly have to be it. With the updated material, the addition of the section on ethical issues (which is so well done that I'm recommending it to the departmental representative to the university IRB), and a new Part 4 on "Qualitative Methods", the new Handbook is an indispensable resource for researchers." Dan Cover, Department of Sociology, Furman University The book considered a "necessity" by many social science researchers and their students has been revised and updated while retaining the features that made it so useful. The emphasis in this new edition is on the tools with which graduate students and more advanced researchers need to become familiar as well as be able to use in order to conduct high quality research.

Book Synopsis Federal Student Loans by : Tatiana Shohov
Download or read book Federal Student Loans written by Tatiana Shohov and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2004 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Title IV of the Higher Education Act (HEA) authorises the major federal student aid programs, including the student loan programs, which are the largest source of aid for students. In FY2000, the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) programs and the Federal Direct Student Loan (DL) program supported an estimated $33.1 billion in new loan volume. Several types of loans are available: Federal need-based subsidised Stafford loans (under which the government pays the interest while the borrower is in school, a grace period of deferment); unsubsidised Stafford loans; Federal PLUS loans (for parents of undergraduate students); and Federal Consolidation loans. Overall, student loan volume has been increased in recent years, from $24 billion in FY1994 to $33 billion in FY2000. The number of loans being made has increased over the same period going from 6,483,000 to 8,618,000. The average amount that individual students are borrowing in any given year has not increased as dramatically. This new book examines important issues related to this cornerstone of American higher education.

Download or read book Grants written by A. M. Babkina and published by Nova Biomedical Books. This book was released on 2000 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by Babinka (no credentials listed), this bibliography contains no introductory material stating how or why selections were made. Furthermore, though the book's title states "with indexes," there is in fact only one index; and this one index simply lists titles, providing very little help in accessing the book's contents. The citations are Library of Congress catalog records, printed about three to a page, and, inconsiderately, without font differentiation of the titles. Arrangement is in the following sections: general, websites, government and transportation, block, community, research, education, literature, arts and music, environment, agriculture, business and nonprofit, women, medicine and health, and international.
