Book Synopsis Introduction to Smart Antennas by : Constantine A. Balanis
Download or read book Introduction to Smart Antennas written by Constantine A. Balanis and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the growing demand for mobile communications is constantly increasing, the need for better coverage, improved capacity, and higher transmission quality rises. Thus, a more efficient use of the radio spectrum is required. Smart antenna systems are capable of efficiently utilizing the radio spectrum and is a promise for an effective solution to the present wireless systems’ problems while achieving reliable and robust high-speed high-data-rate transmission. The purpose of this book is to provide the reader a broad view of the system aspects of smart antennas. In fact, smart antenna systems comprise several critical areas such as individual antenna array design, signal processing algorithms, space-time processing, wireless channel modeling and coding, and network performance. In this book we include an overview of smart antenna concepts, introduce some of the areas that impact smart antennas, and examine the influence of interaction and integration of these areas to Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks. In addition, the general principles and major benefits of using space-time processing are introduced, especially employing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enlarged and revised second edition. Modern direction finders, capable of measuring elevation angles as well as azimuth angles on the components of multi-ray wavefields, have become powerful tools for research in ionospheric physics and HF radio propagation. The complexity of the problem of resolving closely-spaced rays requires the combined use of wide aperture antenna arrays, multichannel receiving systems and sophisticated digital processing techniques.

Book Synopsis Massive Access for Cellular Internet of Things Theory and Technique by : Xiaoming Chen
Download or read book Massive Access for Cellular Internet of Things Theory and Technique written by Xiaoming Chen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-07 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on massive access to the cellular internet of things (IoT). Both theory and technique are addressed, with more weight placed on the latter. This is achieved by providing in-depth studies on a number of central topics such as channel state information acquisition, user clustering, superposition coding, and successive interference cancellation. Four typical application scenarios are examined in detail, namely the stationary IoT device scenario, frequency division duplex-based low-mobility IoT device scenario, time-division duplex-based IoT device scenario, and high-mobility IoT device scenario. The comprehensive and systematic treatment of key techniques in massive access to the cellular IoT is one of the major features of the book, which is particularly suited for readers who are interested in finding practical solutions for the cellular IoT. As such, it will benefit researchers, engineers, and graduate students in the fields of information engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer engineering, etc.

Book Synopsis SVD and Signal Processing by : Ed. F. Deprettere
Download or read book SVD and Signal Processing written by Ed. F. Deprettere and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compiled in this book is a selection of articles written by internationally recognized experts in the fields of matrix computation and signal processing. In almost all digital signal processing (DSR) problems, the available data is corrupted by (measurement) noise or is incomplete. Classical techniques are unable to separate ''signal'' spaces and ''noise'' spaces. However, the information hidden in the data can be made explicit through singular value decomposition (SVD). SVD based signal processing is making headway and will become feasible soon, thanks to the progress in parallel computations and VLSI implementation. The book is divided into six parts. Part one is a tutorial, beginning with an introduction, including (VLSI) parallel algorithms and some intriguing problems. It describes several applications of SVD in system identification and signal detection. It also deals with the fundamental harmonic retrieval problem and principal component analysis. Part two discusses details of model reduction, system identification and detection of multiple sinusoids in white noise, while part three is devoted to the total-least-squares and generalized singular value decomposition problems. The fourth section deals with real-time and adaptive algorithms, the fifth examines fast algorithms and architectures, such as block-algorithms, computational arrays, systolic arrays, hypercubes and connection machines, and the final part addresses some open problems.
