En procédant à l'ajustement à une devise commune et à un ensemble de prix communs, elles peuvent être utilisées pour faire des comparaisons internationales des volumes relatifs de biens et services dans lesquels on a investi ou qui ont été consommés. Ce rapport présente les PPAs associées aux dépenses réelles et à d'autres statistiques connexes pour les États-Unis comparativement au Canada pour la période allant de 2002 à 2009. Il vise à mettre à jour le rapport publié en 2007 et les données diffusées subséquemment. Ce rapport fourit une description des PPA et discute des raisons pour lesquelles elles sont importantes. Les sources et les méthodes, ainsi qu'une discussion sur la qualité des données et sur les principaux changements introduits avec ce rapport sont présentées par la suite. Enfin, les principaux résultats de l'étude sont présentés et des comparaisons sont établies avec les données publiées précédemment de même qu'avec celles de l'Eurostat-Organisation pour la coopération et le développement économique.--Document.

The data presented have been developed and projected from the results of two studies based on the 1990 round of Eurostat-OECD Purchasing Power Parity program. The article defines the purchasing power parities, provides some background on the applications, results and development of the PPP program and summarizes the formulas used and their implications. The article concludes with some thoughts for future developments.

The data were developed for the period 1992 to 2001, using the latest US and Canada expenditure data from the National Accounts and price comparisons for 1999. The paper contains summaries of differences between the results of the multilateral (OECD) study and the Statistics Canada bilateral study. Some differences in classifications have been incorporated, as well as normal national accounts revisions. Ten tables are presented in an appendix for 21 categories of expenditure for the GDP.

It serves to update the report published in 2007 and subsequent data releases. The report includes a description of PPPs and why they are important, followed by discussions of the sources and methods and the quality of the data, and a summary of the key changes introduced by this report. Finally, the main findings of the study are presented, including comparisons with previously published data and those from the OECD.--Document.
