Book Synopsis Christ the Logos of Creation: An Essay in Analogical Metaphysics by : John R. Betz
Download or read book Christ the Logos of Creation: An Essay in Analogical Metaphysics written by John R. Betz and published by Emmaus Academic. This book was released on 2023-09-28 with total page 671 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Prologue of the Gospel of John identifies Jesus Christ as the eternal Word or Logos of the Father, who became flesh for the salvation of the world. Yet the world that Christ saves is his world from the beginning, for he is also the Logos of creation, the one “through whom all things were made” (John 1:3). This divinely revealed claim has profound implications not only for theology but also for metaphysics, whose relation to Christian doctrine was undermined over the course of the twentieth century, such that the Christian faith has become an increasingly private affair rather than a credible account of reality and an invitation to participate more fully in it. With Christ, the Logos of Creation, John Betz seeks to recover a Christ-centered, analogical metaphysics and to establish the indispensability of such metaphysics for Christian theology and the Christian vision of reality. In Part I, he dispels the fog of confusion about analogical metaphysics and addresses the ecumenical issues posed by Karl Barth’s famous rejection of the analogia entis. Part II demonstrates how analogical metaphysics helps to explain Christian doctrine and sheds new light on the interrelationship between individual doctrines, including Trinitarian theology, Christology and soteriology, and theological anthropology. In Part III, Betz explores how this analogical perspective can aid in resolving a number of theological disputes, including the metaphysical relationship between nature and grace and the issue of divine humility. Finally, Part IV outlines further directions toward a fully Christological metaphysics that is proportionate both to the challenges of modern theology and the reality of our life in Christ the Logos.

Book Synopsis Neutrosophy in Arabic Philosophy (English language version) by : Florentin Smarandache

This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examples of Neutrosophy used in Arabic philosophy:- While Avicenna promotes the idea that the world is contingent if it is necessitated by its causes, Averroes rejects it, and both of them are right from their point of view. Hence and have common parts.- Islamic dialectical theology (kalam) promoting creationism was connected by Avicenna in an extraordinary way with the opposite Aristotelian-Neoplatonic tradition.Much work by Avicenna is neutrosophic.- Averroes's religious judges (qadis) can be connected with atheists' believes.- al-Farabi's metaphysics and general theory of emanation vs. al-Ghazali's Sufi writings and mystical treatises [we may think about a coherence of al-Ghazali's "Incoherence of the Incoherence" book].- al-Kindi's combination of Koranic doctrines with Greek philosophy.- Islamic Neoplatonism + Western Neoplatonism. - Ibn ? Khaldun?s statements in his theory on the cyclic sequence of civilizations, says that: Luxury leads to the raising of civilization (because the people seek for comforts of life) but also Luxury leads to the decay of civilization (because its correlation with ethics corruption).- On the other hand, there?s the method of absent?by?present syllogism in jurisprudence, in which we find the same principles and laws of neutrosophy.- We can also function a lot of Arabic aphorisms, maxims, Koranic miracles (Ayat Al-Qur??n) and Sunna of the prophet, to support the theory of neutrosophy. Take the colloquial proverb that "The continuance of state is impossible" too, or "Everything, if it?s increased over its extreme, it will turn over to its opposite"!
Book Synopsis Life Strategies (draft), Part three: Theatre and Non-Novel by : Florentin Smarandache
Download or read book Life Strategies (draft), Part three: Theatre and Non-Novel written by Florentin Smarandache and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ¿The world is a stage,¿ says Shakespeare. Perhaps this phrase carries more meaning than a mere metaphor, because --as we know well-- we have to do some `roles¿ in each particular sphere of life. Then it is true that new ideas are always in demand in order to refresh our thinking on these `roles¿. This small book, which is rather a draft, comprises a collection of ideas, viewpoints and methods in various aspects of theater, performance arts, non-novel, etc. compiled or inspired from various lectures or studies. If for no other reason, the ideas listed here at least can stimulate further thoughts and ideas ¿ for instance, young writers may use these ideas to make his/her drama or novel more enthralling. I started to write down such ideas since I was a high school student and continue even today - I always bear with me a small pen and a small notebook where I write in the plane, or when driving my car, or even in classroom. However, I hope that despite over three decades of postponement, this small booklet will keep on inspiring the reader, as good ideas will always be worth to ponder.
Book Synopsis One of the Trinity Has Suffered: Balthasar’s Theology of Divine Suffering in Dialogue by : Joshua R. Brotherton
Download or read book One of the Trinity Has Suffered: Balthasar’s Theology of Divine Suffering in Dialogue written by Joshua R. Brotherton and published by Emmaus Academic. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hans Urs von Balthasar’s discourse on the descent of Christ into hell and its implications for the Triune God have been disputed for half a century. One of the Trinity has Suffered evaluates and revises von Balthasar’s theology of divine suffering in a way that interacts with and significantly enriches contemporary Catholic theology. In this book, Joshua R. Brotherton engages twentieth-century Thomistic theology, as well as the thought of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) and Pope St. John Paul II. Drawing from the vast secondary literature on von Balthasar, Brotherton offers a balanced assessment of his work on the topic of divine suffering, both critical and appreciative. Recognizing von Balthasar’s laudable attempt to integrate mystical spirituality and systematic theology, Brotherton seeks to distinguish valid insights from confused mixtures of metaphorical, meta-symbolic, and philosophical (metaphysical) discourse on God, particularly with respect to the classical problem of how the Creator who willed to become incarnate may be said to suffer. Truly, “One of the Trinity has suffered,” and yet this mystery of faith must be carefully explained and understood in conformity with sustained Catholic reflection on divine immutability and simplicity, the dual nature and unique personhood of Christ, the Trinity of divine subsistent relations, the freedom of God in creating and becoming man, the analogy of being, the problem of evil, and the immensity and infinite value of Christ’s redemptive suffering.
