Book Synopsis Handbook of Polymer Coatings for Electronics by : James J. Licari
Download or read book Handbook of Polymer Coatings for Electronics written by James J. Licari and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 1990-12-31 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This completely revised edition remains the only comprehensive treatise on polymer coatings for electronics. Since the original edition, the applications of coatings for the environmental protection of electronic systems have greatly increased, largely driven by the competitive need to reduce costs, weight and volume. The demands for high-speed circuits for the rapid processing of signals and data, high-density circuits for the storage and retrieval of megabits of memory, and the improved reliability required of electronics for guiding and controlling weapons and space vehicles have triggered the development of many new and improved coating polymers and formulations. Both the theoretical aspects of coatings (molecular structure of polymer types and their correlation with electrical and physical properties) and applied aspects (functions, deposition processes, applications, testing) are covered in the book. Over 100 proprietary coating formulations were reviewed, their properties collated, and tables of comparative properties prepared. This book is useful as both a primer and as a handbook for collecting properties data.
Book Synopsis Reverse Osmosis Membrane Research by : H. Lonsdale
Download or read book Reverse Osmosis Membrane Research written by H. Lonsdale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Th i s book had its orl gl n in the sympos i urn on "Polymers for Desalination" sponsored by the Division of Polymer Chemistry of the American Chemical Society and held in September, 1971 in Wash ington D. C. at the 162nd national meeting of the Society. However, the book is not simply the proceedings of that symposium. A num ber of additional papers were contributed by other workers in the field, and the original papers presented at the symposium have, for the most part, been expanded. The book thus represents a broad cross section of membrane research and development activities in the United States and abroad within the field of reverse osmosis. The purposes of the book are to bring attention to important new developments in this field, to suggest what the next generation of reverse osmosis equipment may look like, and to indicate where fur ther research and development are needed. The vast majority of the papers collected here represent work supported by the Office of Saline Water of the United States Department of the Interior, and the emphasis here is clearly on the application of the reverse os mosis process to water purification. However, many of the concepts, methods, and conclusions are expected to be useful in other areas of membrane science and technology.

Book Synopsis Rosin-based Chemicals and Polymers by : Jinwen Zhang
Download or read book Rosin-based Chemicals and Polymers written by Jinwen Zhang and published by Smithers Rapra. This book was released on 2012-04-03 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rosin is an abundantly available natural product composed of around 90% acidic and 10% neutral compounds. Rosin and its derivatives have long been used as tackifiers in adhesives. They have also found other niche applications in inks, varnishes, paints, sealing wax, some soaps, paper sizing; soldering, plasters, food additives, etc. However, many of the conventional applications of rosin mainly utilize the inherent physical properties in various practices. In recent years there has been a growing interest in using rosin acid-derivatives as building blocks in the synthesis of polyesters, polyurethanes, epoxies and curing agents. In addition, rosin acid derived chemicals are also used as nucleating agents, surfactants, drugs and other special applications. This book brings together a collection of scientific articles on recent research and development of utilizing natural chemicals from pine resin as feedstock for polymers and new industrial chemicals. It focuses mainly on the new use of rosin acids, but also covers the applications of other chemicals from tree sap such as terpinenes. This book will provide considerable material for researchers in both academia and industry with the latest developments in the utilization of rosin and terpinenes.
