Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Love, Two Worlds: First Visit is about the discovery of another world through the unknowing help of a trance medium. The words are transcribed off of actual audio tapes from the other world. Sadie is a very old spirit but appears to the children she meets as a 12-year-old. Author Ian T Howard says that when Sadie talks to him, she says she loves to help children cross over to the spirit world. This book is the adaption from audio talks with Sadie which have been made into stories. Ian says, I was asked on one of the tapes to write these things. One evening, a man's voice came through and asked me to do so. The spirit told him: You do need to be writing. You will write the words to help others to understand why they are here on this physical plain and you will help them to get on with their lives and live it in the right way. You will have to reach out to many people. The author notes, This was the first contact that let me know that I had to write up these recordings. It is a hard task where I have to listen to the recording, then, transfer to the written word, at the same time make it so that it is understood. The rest I will leave up to you, the reader. Author Ian Howard's next book is a sequel. He is retired and lives with his wife just north of Leicester, England. Book excerpt: "A truly profound debut."—Buzzfeed "A time-bending suspense that's contemplative and fresh, evocative and gripping."—USA Today "Henry's story captivates, both as a romance and as an imaginative rethinking of time and space."—Publishers Weekly "This time-traveling, magical, and beautifully written love story definitely deserves a spot on your bookshelf."—Bustle Emily Henry's stunning debut novel is Friday Night Lights meets The Time Traveler's Wife and perfectly captures those bittersweet months after high school, when we dream not only of the future, but of all the roads and paths we've left untaken. Natalie's last summer in her small Kentucky hometown is off to a magical start . . . until she starts seeing the "wrong things." They're just momentary glimpses at first—her front door is red instead of its usual green, there’s a preschool where the garden store should be. But then her whole town disappears for hours, fading away into rolling hills and grazing buffalo, and Nat knows something isn't right. Then there are the visits from the kind but mysterious apparition she calls "Grandmother," who tells her, "You have three months to save him." The next night, under the stadium lights of the high school football field, she meets a beautiful boy named Beau, and it's as if time just stops and nothing exists. Nothing, except Natalie and Beau.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Social Class Voices, forty-five University of Michigan undergraduate students and recent alumni explore the significance of social class in early 21st century America. They openly and honestly show how social class has shaped their lives, their changing identities, and conditions in their home communities. These writers - born to the working poor, working, middle, upper-middle, and upper classes - examine the effects of social class on their families, their kindergarten through high school experiences, as well as their undergraduate years at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Using "sociological creative non-fiction" essays, they invite readers to engage, interpret, and imagine the power of social class in a society where economic differences are often overlooked. In exploring their pasts and personal experiences, they write powerful accounts of American college student life. We hear about the insecurities and challenges of growing up in poverty, increasing tensions of being born to the working and middle classes, and comforting certainties of upper-middle and upper class lives. In their stories we see connections between the personal and the social - a key sociological insight. These writers explore social class heritages at a time when more and more Americans are recognizing economic inequality as a core structural problem facing millions, independent of individual effort and talent. They shed light on what is too often denied both on and off college campuses: social class. By their very nature these types of explorations are political. In America, where economic differences frequently go unnoticed when discussing inequality, openly writing about one's personal class experiences can be controversial. These University of Michigan students and alumni have the courage to make public how social class structures American life.

Families, too, reflect this global interconnectedness, uniting individuals from various corners of the world, cultures, and backgrounds. Our booklet, One World - One Love: Inspiration for International Families, is a heartfelt endeavor to provide insight, wisdom, and a sense of community to families navigating the beautifully complex journey of being international. Part 1: Interesting Insights: 3 theoretical articles In the first section of our booklet, we explore some theoretical underpinnings that offer perspectives on issues often encountered by international families. Through three articles, we shed light on topics that are often present in families lives yet might remain unexplored due to their implicit nature. We explore the concept of the Third Culture, the challenge of intercultural communication, and the evolving demographics of Europe in the context of internationalization. These articles aim to bridge the gap between lived experiences and academic insights, enriching your understanding and offering food for reflection. Part 2: Voices of Experience: 14 Interviews The heart of our booklet lies in the second section, where you can read the real stories of 14 international families. Through interviews, these families generously share their personal journeys, revealing intricacies, joys, and challenges of life as an international family. Their diverse experiences and perspectives offer many insights. As you read their narratives, you might find echoes of your own experiences, a sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding. Part 3: Navigating Your Path: 5 self-reflective questions Our final section offers a brief toolkit for your own self-discovery and growth. Inspired by coaching principles, we present five thought-provoking questions that encourage introspection. Designed to help you consciously shape your familys journey, these questions touch upon raising multicultural children, reflecting on gender roles, evolving worldviews, influencing your community, and sharing wisdom with fellow international families. This section invites you to engage in reflection and meaningful conversations. We as a project team hope that One World - One Love: Inspiration for International Families becomes a cherished companion on your journey, offering insights, solace, and inspiration as you navigate your life of family, culture, and connection.

Book excerpt: Diane Blood first hit the headlines in 1996 when she went to court to fight for the right to use her late husband's sperm to try for the child they had planned together before his sudden death from meningitis. Diane's case caused an ethical storm and was debated in the courts, in Parliament and in the media. With huge public support, yet against almost impossible odds, she won on appeal and went on to have two miraculous little boys. The legal battles were not over, however, as the law still prevented Diane from naming the boys' father on their birth certificates. After many hurdles and stumbling blocks, she triumphed again and made constitutional history when the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (Deceased Fathers) Act finally came into force on 1 December 2003 and she was allowed to re-register her children's births. Flesh and Blood asks many important questions and helps provide some of the answers. It shows how controversial policies are made that affect all our lives. Beyond that, it is a simple story of life, death and procreation: an incredibly vivid account written by the woman who lived through the despair and jubilation.

A handsome Italian man, with a damaged heart, he recognized the “real” Julia and consequently saw her how she needed to be seen: strong, nurturing and sensual. In his heart, she was his soulmate. She would eventually feel the same about him. Julia had given her heart to Anthony all those years ago. She’d said “I do” with the intent of meaning it forever. But now, finding herself in the same small Italian village where she’d given her soul to Sebastian once upon a time, Anthony by her side and her one-time lover close by... life was most definitely bound to get complicated. I Love You Still is the highly anticipated sequel to I Belong To You.

Book excerpt: Terrorists engage in propaganda and rhetoric, even though they prefer the power of deed over word. They use a wide variety of mechanisms of moral disengagement to convince themselves of the rightness of their actions, a necessary prerequisite for taking up arms. The articles collected together in this excellent volume focus on the rhetoric and propaganda used by insurgent terrorists to justify their resort to violence. The volume includes a thoughtful introduction which summarizes the main findings of the literature, drawing attention to the many different kinds of terrorist propaganda and the underlying similarity between them.
