Book Synopsis One Act Plays for Kids by : Charles Robertson
Download or read book One Act Plays for Kids written by Charles Robertson and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-04-11 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Act Plays for Kids is the creative result of my work with Bottle Tree Productions acting students. The kids in these classes are from 6-12 In our ten week acting sessions, we get together for the first two or three classes and do theatre games, improv stories and basic acting techniques. Usually the students come up with story ideas, characters and they work out an initial improvised story which I then turn into a script. King Hector the Horizontal is the story of a brave princess who climbs a mountain to slay a dragon and save the kingdom guppy getaway is an underwater fantasy about life under the sea for a school of guppies who get lost in the ocean Night of the Gnomes is the story of Four garden gnomes rise up in rebellion against their human masters. Toys in the Closet speaks to the imagination in all children-The idea that their toys are alive Our Acting Classes are a safe place for students to share their imagination and creativity. Theatre is a place where kids can bond with other like-minded kids. Their skills are honed in front of a jury of their peers. They quickly learn what works and what doesn't. Their ideas form the basis of these scripts. As a result these plays do not speak down to kids, but speaks for them, using their own words, their own thoughts and their own imaginations.

Download or read book More One Act Plays for Kids written by Charles Robertson and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-13 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Act Plays for Kids were plays that were developed in our acting classes for kids at Bottle Tree Productions. Parts have been written for kids from six up to twelve years of age. There are four plays, ranging from a fairy tale of a poor miller's daughter and the hobgoblin that helps her to marry a king, to a fantasy about the magical land of bubbles, to a boy's dream of rabbits rising up against the cats and dogs that have kept them in fear for so long and finally, an old-time story of a Viking invasion of England. The plays all spring from the imagination of young children. The plays can be as simple in set design as a bare stage or as elaborate as imagination allows. Costumes, too, can be elaborate or simple. These plays provide good parts for all children involved. Many of the parts are gender neutral. Ranging from a play with parts for five kids up to a play involving 20 kids, there are various options in this collection for different-sized casts.

Book Synopsis Mister Paradise and Other One-Act Plays by : Tennessee Williams

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirteen previously unpublished short plays now available for the first time. Tennessee Williams had a distinct talent for writing short plays and, not surprisingly, this remarkable new collection of never-before-published one-acts includes some of his most poignant and hilarious characters: the indefatigable, witty and tough drag queens of And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens...; the strange little man behind the nom de plume Mister Paradise; and the extravagant mistress who cheats on her married man in The Pink Bedroom. Most were written in the 1930s and early 1940s when Williams was already flexing his theatrical imagination. Chosen from over seventy unpublished one-acts, these are some of Williams's finest; several have premiered recently at The Hartford Stage Co., The Kennedy Center, the Manhattan Theatre Club and the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival. Included in this volume: These Are the Stairs You Got to Watch Mister Paradise The Palooka Escape Why Do You Smoke So Much, Lily? Summer At the Lake The Big Game The Pink Bedroom The Fat Man's Wife Thank You, Kind Spirit The Municipal Abattoir Adam and Eve on a Ferry And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens... Long associated with Williams, acclaimed stage and film actors Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson provide a fresh and challenging foreword for actors, directors, and readers.
