Book Synopsis Facial Topography by : Joel E. Pessa, MD
Download or read book Facial Topography written by Joel E. Pessa, MD and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-04-18 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The difference in the shapes of facial structures and their relationship to one another determines the unique and distinct appearance of each individual. This anatomic information is critical to diagnosing changes in facial topography that occur with age and in determining the best approach for augmenting and rejuvenating the aging face. Facial Topography: Clinical Anatomy of the Face provides a critical roadmap for navigating the underlying anatomy of the face. It is the first work of its type that uses cadaver dissections paired with detailed medical illustrations to depict the soft tissue surface landmarks of the face—shapes, contours, creases, and lines. This beautifully illustrated semi-atlas is packed with clinical information to help improve surgical outcomes. The book places particular emphasis on describing surface landmarks to help predict the location of deeper structures. This knowledge increases the safety of any facial procedure, because the surgeon knows the course and location of blood vessels, muscles, and nerves. The book includes advice on deteriming the best placement of injectables to achieve a predictable and aesthetic result and to avoid complications, and also helps surgeons understand the ideal placement of fillers for facial augmentation. In addition, the basic dissections provide essential information for all residents and practitioners operating in the face. Anatomic tenets are described that can be applied to any anatomic region and key clinical points are highlighted throughout. A supplemental DVD includes video demonstations of dissections and other clinical applications in each anatomic area of the face.

Download or read book Surgery of the Spine written by R. Louis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this comprehensive and original monograph, Professor Rene Louis presents in minute detail in one volume the gross anatomy, nerve supply, biomechanics, and microcirculation of the spine. He also presents the surgical approaches to the vertebral bodies and their contents. Professor Louis is a great anatomist and this book has been prepared from his personal observations, both anatomical and surgical. His studies have been meticulously conducted and contain much original research, for instance his work on the motion of the neural elements within the lumbar vertebral canal. The illustrations are neady all original and very often a photograph of the neural or vascular elements is presented alongside a drawing of a given important anatomical area. For all these reasons, this inspiring treatise makes a valuable contri bution to our knowledge of the spine and forms a basis for an under standing of the intricacies of surgical anatomy and approaches. It will be especially valuable to the spinal surgeon, but the medical student, the orthopedic resident (or registrar), and the anatomist will also find it extremely useful. Leon L. Wiltse, M.D.

Download or read book The Cranial Nerves written by M. Samii and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 772 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No special field of surgery dealing with the cranial nerves exists today. This is not surprising in view of the characteristics of this group of morphologically and topo graphically heterogenous nerves. Morphologically we must differentiate between central nerves (I, II and VIII) and the so-called peripheral nerves (nn. III to VII and IX to XII), in which post-lesion rgeneration is quite different. Anatomo-topographi cally we must consider an intracranial and an extracranial part of each cranial nerve. For practical reasons at operation, further subdivisions of the intracranial course of cranial nerves are to be distinguished in the anterior, middle and posterior cranial fossae as well as within the petrous bone. This underscores the extensive tasks awaiting surgeons operating in the ventral part of the brain and facial skull as well as in the more dorsal part of the skull and neck. This very wide field cannot be covered by a single surgical discipline alone. In our opinion, considerable progress has been made in surgery of the cranial nerves only in recent years. This may be explained by the increased mastery of microsurgical techniques by all surgeons in terested in the surgery of the base of the skull as well as with the initiation of more interdisciplinary consultation and jointly performed operations. Possibilities of fu ture development can be discerned in the text. The base of the skull separating the extra-and intracranial part of cranial nerves should not be a barrier but a connect ing link.
Download or read book Hysterectomy written by Ibrahim Alkatout and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-14 with total page 1595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book initiates the descriptions of the practical performance of different hysterectomies with conventional and robotically assisted laparoscopy, laparotomy and vaginal surgery. Laparoscopic hysterectomy has been out as an additional technique for hysterectomies for the last couple of decades. As the necessary light, augmentation and advanced skill has only been introduced into this already 200 year old surgical procedure within the last few decades by laparoscopy, the editors aim to look at the laparoscopic procedures followed by the traditional techniques of hysterectomy with laparotomy and vaginal surgery.
Book Synopsis Photographic Atlas of Practical Anatomy I by : Walter Thiel
Download or read book Photographic Atlas of Practical Anatomy I written by Walter Thiel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 861 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Walter Thiels brilliant photographs are unique. They revolutionise macroscopic surgery because - due to a new preservation technique developed by the author himself - all tissues retain their living colour, consistency and position. This new technique, Thiels exceptional abilities as a photographer and the filigree dissections add up to vivid, almost artistic illustrations of astonishing depth and clarity. Apart from the topographical anatomy of the abdomen and lower extremities, Part I illustrates the most important punctures of joints and many surgical approaches. Thus this atlas is not only of interest to anatomists and pathologists but particularly to surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons - in fact all doctors requiring a 3D presentation of human anatomy.
