On the following day we reached the pleasant bungalow of an Indigo planter at Ruck soul, just inside of British territory, and were freely offered every hospitality, even his wellstocked stable being placed at our disposal. That same night we pushed on and reached Segowli Railway Station, expecting to make ourselves comfortable there with our bedding sent on ahead by the kind forethought of our planter host. In this, however, we were doomed to disappointment, as our coolies had concluded to ensure for themselves first a good night's rest somewhere on the road, no matter what became of us, and did not turn up till noon of the following day!
