Book Synopsis The Tangled Web by : Michal Zalewski
Download or read book The Tangled Web written by Michal Zalewski and published by No Starch Press. This book was released on 2011-11-15 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern web applications are built on a tangle of technologies that have been developed over time and then haphazardly pieced together. Every piece of the web application stack, from HTTP requests to browser-side scripts, comes with important yet subtle security consequences. To keep users safe, it is essential for developers to confidently navigate this landscape. In The Tangled Web, Michal Zalewski, one of the world’s top browser security experts, offers a compelling narrative that explains exactly how browsers work and why they’re fundamentally insecure. Rather than dispense simplistic advice on vulnerabilities, Zalewski examines the entire browser security model, revealing weak points and providing crucial information for shoring up web application security. You’ll learn how to: –Perform common but surprisingly complex tasks such as URL parsing and HTML sanitization –Use modern security features like Strict Transport Security, Content Security Policy, and Cross-Origin Resource Sharing –Leverage many variants of the same-origin policy to safely compartmentalize complex web applications and protect user credentials in case of XSS bugs –Build mashups and embed gadgets without getting stung by the tricky frame navigation policy –Embed or host user-supplied content without running into the trap of content sniffing For quick reference, "Security Engineering Cheat Sheets" at the end of each chapter offer ready solutions to problems you’re most likely to encounter. With coverage extending as far as planned HTML5 features, The Tangled Web will help you create secure web applications that stand the test of time.

Download or read book Love Tangle written by Karla Hocker and published by Diversion Books. This book was released on 2014-12-16 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charming, romantic, and painted with gorgeous Regency detail, Karla Hocker’s romances will delight readers from the very first page. Weary of playing the game of love, the sixth Earl of Fenchmore had a rather jaundiced view of the marriage-minded maidens who surrounded him. They all were simpering, manipulative featherbrains and he'd have nothing todo with them—or their ambitious mothers. So jaded was the arrogant lord that the forthright intelligence of Miss Deanna St. Cloud seemed nothing less than a miracle. But he was not about to surrender his hard-kept independence simply because her lovely grey eyes shone with wit and her riotous red curls spoke of inner passion and fire.

Book Synopsis Random Knotting and Linking by : Kenneth C. Millett
Download or read book Random Knotting and Linking written by Kenneth C. Millett and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes both rigorous asymptotic results on the inevitability of random knotting and linking, and Monte Carlo simulations of knot probability at small lengths. The statistical mechanics and topology of surfaces on the d-dimensional simple cubic lattice are investigated. The energy of knots is studied both analytically and numerically. Vassiliev invariants are investigated and used in random knot simulations. A mutation scheme which leaves the Jones polynomial unaltered is described. Applications include the investigation of RNA secondary structure using Vassiliev invariants, and the direct experimental measurement of DNA knot probability as a function of salt concentration in random cyclization experiments on linear DNA molecules. The papers in this volume reflect the diversity of interest across science and mathematics in this subject, from topology to statistical mechanics to theoretical chemistry to wet-lab molecular biology.
Book Synopsis The Tangled Web We Weave by : James Ball
Download or read book The Tangled Web We Weave written by James Ball and published by Melville House. This book was released on 2020-10-06 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all see what the internet does and increasingly don't like it, but do we know how and more importantly who makes it work that way? That's where the real power lays... The internet was supposed to be a thing of revolutions. As that dream curdles, there is no shortage of villains to blame--from tech giants to Russian bot farms. But what if the problem is not an issue of bad actors ruining a good thing? What if the hazards of the internet are built into the system itself? That's what journalist James Ball argues as he takes us to the root of the problem, from the very establishment of the internet's earliest protocols to the cables that wire it together. He shows us how the seemingly abstract and pervasive phenomenon is built on a very real set of materials and rules that are owned, financed, designed and regulated by very real people. In this urgent and necessary book, Ball reveals that the internet is not a neutral force but a massive infrastructure that reflects the society that created it. And making it work for--and not against--us must be an endeavor of the people as well.

Book Synopsis Analysis of Quantised Vortex Tangle by : Alexander John Taylor
Download or read book Analysis of Quantised Vortex Tangle written by Alexander John Taylor and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-24 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, the author develops numerical techniques for tracking and characterising the convoluted nodal lines in three-dimensional space, analysing their geometry on the small scale, as well as their global fractality and topological complexity---including knotting---on the large scale. The work is highly visual, and illustrated with many beautiful diagrams revealing this unanticipated aspect of the physics of waves. Linear superpositions of waves create interference patterns, which means in some places they strengthen one another, while in others they completely cancel each other out. This latter phenomenon occurs on 'vortex lines' in three dimensions. In general wave superpositions modelling e.g. chaotic cavity modes, these vortex lines form dense tangles that have never been visualised on the large scale before, and cannot be analysed mathematically by any known techniques.

Book Synopsis The Years of O'Casey, 1921-1926 by : Robert Goode Hogan
Download or read book The Years of O'Casey, 1921-1926 written by Robert Goode Hogan and published by University of Delaware Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: However, these contemporary accounts are frequently amplified and put into modern perspective, particularly at crucial moments such as a major production, a final production, or a death. The authors have particularly done so with writers of some importance such as Edward Martyn, William Boyle, or T.C. Murray. Since the theater of these years was especially influenced by the state of the country, the authors give considerable space to the disruptive political events of the times. Always, however, this is done from the particular vantage point of the theater and its workers, for the Irish theater vigorously reacted to and quickly assimilated the turbulent political events of the day: the raids, the reprisals, the burnings, and the murders. These 1,800 days really break into two periods. The first comprises the violence of the Black and Tan War, the exhaustion that led to the treaty, and the bitterness occasioned by the treaty that led to the culminating ferocity of the civil war.
