Two cores were collected from Lake Wellington, and one each from Lake King and Lake Victoria. Measurements were made of sediment porosity, major and trace element concentrations, and radionuclide activities. The fallout nuclides 210Pb and 137Cs were used to determine modern sedimentation rates (the last 100 years). Optical dating was undertaken on four sub-samples to determine longer-term accumulation rates.
