Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow by : G Rudinger
Download or read book Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow written by G Rudinger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Gas-Particle Flow is an edited, updated, and expanded version of a number of lectures presented on the “Gas-Solid Suspensions course organized by the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. Materials presented in this book are mostly analytical in nature, but some experimental techniques are included. The book focuses on relaxation processes, including the viscous drag of single particles, drag in gas-particles flow, gas-particle heat transfer, equilibrium, and frozen flow. It also discusses the dynamics of single particles, such as particles in an arbitrary flow, in a rotating gas, in a Prandtl-Meyer expansion, and in an oscillating flow. The remaining chapters of the book deal with the thermodynamics of gas-particle mixtures, steady flow through ducts, pressure waves, gas-particle jets, boundary layer, and momentum transfer. The experimental techniques included in this book present the powder feeders, the instrumentation on particle flow rate, velocity, concentration and temperature, and the measurement of the particle drag coefficient in a shock tube.

Download or read book Modelling and Solution Techniques for Multiphase Flow written by Alan Victor Jones and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1987 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials presented at the Inspra-Courses Seminar held in Inspra, Italy, Nov. 1985 provide general principles and applications for the appreciation of the similarities and differences in the approaches taken. An explanation of the physical nature of the particular multiphase flow application is followed by a presentation of the model adopted, emphasizing its distinguishing features. The technique employed for the numerical solution is discussed, usually supported by numerical results. No index. Book club price $117. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
Book Synopsis Instrumentation for Combustion and Flow in Engines by : D.F.G. Durão
Download or read book Instrumentation for Combustion and Flow in Engines written by D.F.G. Durão and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been said and written about the abilities of modern instrumentation to help solve problems of combustion in engines. In the main, however, the design and fabr ication of combustion chambers continues to be based on extrapolation of exper ience gained from use and rig tests, with little input from advanced techniques such as those based on optical diagnotics. At the same time, it has become increasingly difficult to design better combustion chambers without knowledge of the relevant flow processes. Thus, the future must involve improved understanding which, in turn, will require detailed measurements of velocity, temperature and concentration. The need to narrow the gap between current industrial practice and the acquisition and implementation of improved techniques motivated the organization of the Advanced Study Institute upon which this volume is based. This Institute on Instrumentation for Combustion and Flow in Engines was arranged to display the needs of industry and the possibilities made available by modern instrumentation and, at the same time, to make clear the relative advantages of optical and probe techniques. Held at Vimeiro during the period from 13 to 26 September, 1987, the Institute was attended by 120 participants and 16 invited lecturers.

Download or read book Experimental and Numerical Modeling of Rarefied Gas Flows Through Orifices and Short Tubes written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flow through circular orifices with thickness-to-diameter ratios varying from 0.015 to 1.2 is studied experimentally and numerically with kinetic and continuum approaches. Helium and nitrogen gases are used in the range of Reynolds numbers from 0.02 to over 700. Good agreement between experimental and numerical results is observed for mass flow and thrust corrected for the experimental facility background pressure. For thick-to-thin orifice ratios of mass flow and thrust vs pressure, a minimum is established. The thick orifice propulsion efficiency is much higher than that of a thin orifice. The effects of edge roundness and surface specularity on a thick orifice specific impulse were found to be relatively small.
