The first series concerns the genealogy of the Hubbards and associated families: Sebor, Winthrop, Shirreff, deKoven, Johnson, and Dudley. The families include many prominent figures in New England history including two governors: John Winthrop (1588-1649) of Connecticut and Joseph Dudley, of Massachusetts. William Shirreff, of Annapolis, N.S., was one of the commissioners appointed to settle the boundaries between Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Series two contains a collection of letters between members of the Sebor, Winthrop, and Shirreff families (late 1700s-early 1800s), including some letters sent from England where the Shirreff family lived. The letters concern family matters with occasional references to the political estrangement between England and America at that time. One of the later letters comes from Helen Beach who compiled a book on the Descendants of Jacob Sebor, a genealogical look at the family, a copy held by the repository.
