Book Synopsis Nordsyn study on air-to-water heat pumps in humid Nordic climate by : Stignor, Caroline Haglund
Download or read book Nordsyn study on air-to-water heat pumps in humid Nordic climate written by Stignor, Caroline Haglund and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2019-05-03 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study presented in this report has been performed for Nordsyn sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The aim of this study was to analyse if the information given on the energy labels of air-to-water heat pumps give consumers in Nordic countries sufficient information on energy performance. When comparing results from field measurements to declared values, it shows the declared values are usually better than the field data, especially in countries with humid climate. There could be several reasons for this deviation as non-optimal installations, bypass of control systems, old field data etc. The suspicion that the deviation is due to that the standard tests do not take humidity sufficiently into account could not be proved nor fully dismissed. Recommendations are given on how this could be further investigated, including field measurements in Nordic countries.

Download or read book Wind Energy written by Mathew Sathyajith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-14 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing energy demand and environmental consciousness have re-evoked human interest in wind energy. As a result, wind is the fastest growing energy source in the world today. Policy frame works and action plans have already been for- lated at various corners for meeting at least 20 per cent of the global energy - mand with new-renewables by 2010, among which wind is going to be the major player. In view of the rapid growth of wind industry, Universities, all around the world, have given due emphasis to wind energy technology in their undergraduate and graduate curriculum. These academic programmes attract students from diver- fied backgrounds, ranging from social science to engineering and technology. Fundamentals of wind energy conversion, which is discussed in the preliminary chapters of this book, have these students as the target group. Advanced resource analysis tools derived and applied are beneficial to academics and researchers working in this area. The Wind Energy Resource Analysis (WERA) software, provided with the book, is an effective tool for wind energy practitioners for - sessing the energy potential and simulating turbine performance at prospective sites.
Book Synopsis Solar and Heat Pump Systems for Residential Buildings by : Jean-Christophe Hadorn
Download or read book Solar and Heat Pump Systems for Residential Buildings written by Jean-Christophe Hadorn and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-09-08 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The combination of heat pumps and solar components is a recent development and has great potential for improving the energy efficiency of house and hot water heating systems. As a consequence, it can enhance the energy footprint of a building substantially. This work compares different systems, analyses their performance and illustrates monitoring techniques. It helps the reader to design, simulate and assess solar and heat pump systems. Good examples of built systems are discussed in detail and advice is given on how to design the most efficient system. This book is the first one about this combination of components and presents the state of the art of this technology. It is based on a joint research project of two programmes of the International Energy Agency: the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) and the Heat Pump Programme. More than 50 experts from 13 countries have participated in this research.

Book Synopsis Baltic Energy Technology Scenarios 2018 by : Tomi J. Lindroos
Download or read book Baltic Energy Technology Scenarios 2018 written by Tomi J. Lindroos and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2018-04-05 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Baltic Energy Technology Scenarios 2018 (BENTE) is a scenario-based energy system analysis that explores the changes in the Baltic countries’ energy systems. What are the drivers and their impacts in the following decades? What would be required for the Baltic countries to meet their climate and energy targets in 2030, and what development would lead the Baltics towards a 2°C pathway? The report finds that the Baltic countries’ proposed renewable energy (RE) targets can be achieved using domestic resources. More renewable energy (electricity, heat and fuels) lets energy demanding sectors reduce GHG emissions and increase the RE share. However, the Baltic countries still do not reach their Effort Sharing Sector’s 2030 targets in the 4°C Scenario (4DS). Without policies to stimulate local renewable energy generation, the Baltics are likely to become large net importers of electricity.
Book Synopsis Nordsyn study on air-to-air heat pumps in humid Nordic climate by : Stignor, Caroline Haglund
Download or read book Nordsyn study on air-to-air heat pumps in humid Nordic climate written by Stignor, Caroline Haglund and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2019-05-09 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study was performed for Nordsyn sponsored by Nordic Council of Ministers. The aim was to analyse if the energy labels of air-to-air heat pumps give consumers in Nordic countries sufficient information on energy performance, since declared performance was suspected to be higher than in reality. Due to very few field measurements available, this suspicion could not be confirmed nor rejected. It was found that many heat pumps are declared for lower capacities compared to their intended use in the Nordic countries, to obtain a higher SCOP value on the energy label. Market surveillance tests show that it has become rarer that heat pumps defrost during the laboratory tests. Altogether the study shows that the current energy label does not give clear guidance to the consumer. Recommendations for field measurements as well as suggestions for standard and regulation developments are given.
Book Synopsis Nordic Sustainable Aviation by : Ydersbond, Inga Margarete
Download or read book Nordic Sustainable Aviation written by Ydersbond, Inga Margarete and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2020-12-22 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globally, aviation accounts for a modest share of World total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from today’s energy use. However, air transport has been rapidly increasing and many other sectors are expected to reduce their emissions. Hence, aviation’s share of global emissions can be foreseen to rise and will constitute a significant part of the problem unless strong counteracting initiatives are taken. Efforts regarding aviation have so far been limited, although despite significant technological improvements of aircraft energy efficiency over the past decades. The Nordic countries all have high ambitions to become more environmentally sustainable. The aim of this report is to examine challenges and opportunities for increased Nordic cooperation with regards to increasing sustainability of aviation and, based on evaluation of alternative options, propose common policy measures.
Book Synopsis Nordic leadership by : Ulf Andreasson
Download or read book Nordic leadership written by Ulf Andreasson and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2018-12-05 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nordic companies and organisations are often distinguished by committedemployees and a high degree of creativity. One reason is a specific Nordicleadership style, which sets itself apart through the delegation of power and responsibility to employees and a high degree of consensus seeking, among other things. Nordic leaders also stress the necessity of co-operation. In addition, they play down their authority and often function more as coaches for their employees. It is also important that leaders are able to inspire their employees, and be visionary yet realistic at the same time. This report describes how various studies on culture, leadership and values characterise the Nordic leadership style. The report also attempts to find factors in Nordic societies that could help explain the leadership style in the Nordic region. Particular attention is given to two of these: the creation of the Nordic welfare state and the tradition of balancing different interests in society, especially within the labour market. The discussion of these factors is also supplemented by examining the role played by the industrial structure.

Book excerpt: Being socially and geographically mobile is generally seen as one of the central aspects of women's wellbeing. Alongside health, education and political participation, mobility is indispensable in order for women to reach goals such as agency and freedom. Building on new philosophical underpinnings of 'mobility', whereby society is seen to be framed by the convergence of various mobilities, this volume focuses on the intersection of mobility, social justice and gender. The authors reflect on five highly interdependent mobilities that form and reform social life: *
