Book Synopsis Chassis Handbook by : Bernhard Heißing
Download or read book Chassis Handbook written by Bernhard Heißing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-09 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of all the assistance offered by electronic control systems, the latest generation of passenger car chassis still relies on conventional chassis elements. With a view towards driving dynamics, this book examines these conventional elements and their interaction with mechatronic systems. First, it describes the fundamentals and design of the chassis and goes on to examine driving dynamics with a particularly practical focus. This is followed by a detailed description and explanation of the modern components. A separate section is devoted to the axles and processes for axle development. With its revised illustrations and several updates in the text and list of references, this new edition already includes a number of improvements over the first edition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High standards of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance are expected in vehicle design. Refinement is therefore one of the main engineering/design attributes to be addressed when developing new vehicle models and components.Vehicle noise and vibration refinement provides a review of noise and vibration refinement principles, methods, advanced experimental and modelling techniques and palliative treatments necessary in the process of vehicle design, development and integration in order to meet noise and vibration standards. Case studies from the collective experience of specialists working for major automotive companies are included to form an important reference for engineers practising in the motor industry who seek to overcome the technological challenges faced in developing quieter, more comfortable cars. The reader will be able to develop an in-depth knowledge of the source and transmission mechanisms of noise and vibration in motor vehicles, and a clear understanding of vehicle refinement issues that directly influence a customer's purchasing decision. - Reviews noise and vibration refinement principles, methods and modelling techniques necessary in vehicle design, development and integration in order to meet noise and vibration standards - Outlines objectives driving development and the significance of vehicle noise and vibration refinement whilst documenting definitions of key terms for use in practice - Case studies demonstrate measurement and modelling in industry and illustrate key testing methods including hand sensing and environmental testing

This book was released on 2011-10-30 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the contributions to the 10th International Workshop on Railway Noise, held October 18–22, 2010, in Nagahama, Japan, organized by the Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI), Japan. With 11 sessions and 3 poster sessions, the workshop featured presentations by international leaders in the field of railway noise and vibration. All subjects relating to 1. prospects, legal regulation, and perception; 2. wheel and rail noise; 3. structure-borne noise and squeal noise; 4. ground-borne vibration; 5. aerodynamic noise and micro-pressure waves from tunnel portals; 6. interior noise and sound barriers; and 7. prediction, measurements, and monitoring are addressed here. This book is a useful “state-of-the-art” reference for scientists and engineers involved in solving environmental problems of railways.

This book was released on 2010-01-04 with total page 619 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Present Your Research to the World! The World Congress 2009 on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering – the triennial scientific meeting of the IUPESM - is the world’s leading forum for presenting the results of current scientific work in health-related physics and technologies to an international audience. With more than 2,800 presentations it will be the biggest conference in the fields of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering in 2009! Medical physics, biomedical engineering and bioengineering have been driving forces of innovation and progress in medicine and healthcare over the past two decades. As new key technologies arise with significant potential to open new options in diagnostics and therapeutics, it is a multidisciplinary task to evaluate their benefit for medicine and healthcare with respect to the quality of performance and therapeutic output. Covering key aspects such as information and communication technologies, micro- and nanosystems, optics and biotechnology, the congress will serve as an inter- and multidisciplinary platform that brings together people from basic research, R&D, industry and medical application to discuss these issues. As a major event for science, medicine and technology the congress provides a comprehensive overview and in–depth, first-hand information on new developments, advanced technologies and current and future applications. With this Final Program we would like to give you an overview of the dimension of the congress and invite you to join us in Munich! Olaf Dössel Congress President Wolfgang C.

Book Synopsis Technical Assessment of Maglev System Concepts by :
Download or read book Technical Assessment of Maglev System Concepts written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government Maglev System Assessment Team operated from 1991 to 1993 as part of the National Maglev Initiative. They assessed the technical viability of four U.S. Maglev system concepts, using the French TGV high speed train and the German TR07 Maglev system as assessment baselines. Maglev in general offers advantages that include high speed potential, excellent system control, high capacity, low energy consumption, low maintenance, modest land requirements, low operating costs, and ability to meet a variety of transportation missions. Further, the U.S. Maglev concepts could provide superior performance to TR07 for similar cost or similar performance for less cost. They also could achieve both lower trip times and lower energy consumption along typical U.S. routes. These advantages result generally from the use of large gap magnetic suspensions, more powerful linear synchronous motors and tilting vehicles. Innovative concepts for motors, guideways, suspension, and superconducting magnets all contribute to a potential for superior long term performance of U.S. Maglev systems compared with TGV and TR07.
Book Synopsis Aeromedical Aspects of Vibration and Noise by : J. C. Guignard
Download or read book Aeromedical Aspects of Vibration and Noise written by J. C. Guignard and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vibration and noise are treated separately in Parts One and Two of this volume; while Part Three deals with the special aeromedical problem of auditory perception in aircrew and ground support personnel and its conservation. Part Four is a glossary of relevant terms. This division of the subject matter recognises that in practice vibration and noise are conveniently studied, measured and controlled as separate entities. It should, however, be borne in mind that these conditions rarely affect man singly. They are commonly present at the same time; and vibration and noise may often be associated with different kinds of environmental agent, such as heat, to make up a combined environmental stress. The human response to such combinations of stressful agents is still a largely neglected field of research.
