Book Synopsis God's Hard-Knock Lessons by : Larry Cumberland
Download or read book God's Hard-Knock Lessons written by Larry Cumberland and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-05-23 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book to communicate many of the lessons that God has taught me through many trials in my life. I hope to provide you those hard-knock lessons without the cost I paid for them in physical, mental, and spiritual pain. My reference to hard-knock lessons is based on the fact that most of them were self-inflicted in that God promises chastening to those that He loves. I clearly understand that God must love me a lot based on the frequency of the chastening. Those lessons sometimes came with scars that lasted a lifetime although God forgave the sin from the beginning. Also, I included doctrinal truths that I learned far too late in my life. I so wish I had learned them earlier as my life would have been more peaceful and spiritually more productive. The lessons were typically learned later than desired due to my lack of knowledge from a specific doctrinal teaching in the Bible. I sincerely feel God inspired and led me to write this book. The initial thought occurred when several people commented on my extraordinary life experiences and the lessons learned from those experiences. God healed me miraculously on two occasions during my life. Those comments were usually followed by a comment of needing to write a book. As for my investment in time and effort in providing you knowledge that I hope you find as valuable, I offer that my time in writing was precious as related to the time I have remaining to live. I write it while doctors have diagnosed me with stage 4 cancer and two to five months of life remaining. I pray for God's third time of healing.

Book Synopsis Hard Knocks & Soft Spots by : Paddy Doherty
Download or read book Hard Knocks & Soft Spots written by Paddy Doherty and published by Random House. This book was released on 2012-05-10 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'I fight hard and love strong. I'm a traveller.' Paddy Doherty loves his life as an Irish traveller, but as a child he felt like an outsider. He was different to his siblings. On the rare occasions he went to school, he was bullied for being a gypsy boy. And beyond the gates of the camp he found nothing but hostility. Slowly, Paddy's hurt turned into anger and by the age of 11 he had started out on an illustrious career in bare-knuckle fighting. This earned him a position as one of the most well-respected (and feared) men in the travelling community. Yet while he won countless contests in the ring, the real battles he faced were very much outside. In this deeply honest autobiography, he tells of how he has loved and lost five children; plummeted to seven stone while battling depression, drink and drugs. He describes how it feels to be shot point-blank in the head and the lengths he'll go to to protect his people, as well as life since My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and Big Brother. Told with all the warmth and humour he is famed for, Paddy's rich and colourful story is one that will stay with you for a long time to come.

We learn as we grow. “The Falling of Hard-Knock University” was inspired by my ability and so many brave and courageous others’ ability to embrace life even as we got our backs thrown against too many walls, having to accept that we could lose it all yet still find strength to get back up and do it all over again. “The Recovery of Hard-Knock University” was inspired from humanity’s ability to heal, live, and forgive.
Download or read book Hard Knocks written by Olufemi A. Togun and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-10-12 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Habass looked at the shattered head of his man; astonished the police were such good marksmen. For him, this was a signal to move. Without the grenade launcher, he knew it would be difficult to match the firepower of the anti riot police who out numbered them. The jeep leapt forward and out of its parking space, before tearing out on screeching tires. Smoke from its burning tires rose into the air like wisps of steam from a teacup. Isah got behind the wheel of the Toyota Liteace minibus while the others scrambled in. As the vehicle screeched out of its parking space, volleys from the concerted fire of the anti riot policemen hit it repeatedly, shattering all the glass windows, wind shields, and deflating its tires. Yelps of pain emanated from the occupants as the slugs lodged in their bodies. Having no other option, the robbers spilled unto the street once again firing wildly as they tried to make their get away on foot. It was an effort in futility.
