Book excerpt: The shear behavior of rock mass significantly depends upon the surface roughness of rock joints which is generally characterized by the anisotropy characteristic and the scale effect. The large-scale natural rock joint surfaces, at Qingshi Town, southeast of Changshan County, Zhejiang Province, China, were used as a case study to analyze the roughness characteristics.

Download or read book Neutrosophic Function for Assessing the Scale Effect of the Rock Joint Surface Roughness written by Rui Yong and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new investigation method is proposed for recording large-sized joint profiles and making statistical analyses of the joint roughness coefficient (JRC) values of the 10–300 cm sized profiles. )e mechanical hand profilograph is used for joint roughness measurement due to its advantage of easy operation and high accuracy in recording joint traces. Based on the proposed method, it provides sufficient samples from various positions on the large joint profile, which allows the statistical evaluation of JRC values. A neutrosophic number (NN) is employed for revealing determinate and/or indeterminate information as it consists of determinate and indeterminate parts. Due to the uncertainty of JRC in the real world, NN is chosen to represent the JRC value, which is not only random but also a fuzzy indefinite parameter. The neutrosophic function is used to analyze and express the scale effect of joint surface roughness, and its derivative is used to describe the changing trend of the scale effect.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Neutrosophic Statistics by : Florentin Smarandache
Download or read book Introduction to Neutrosophic Statistics written by Florentin Smarandache and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2014 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neutrosophic Statistics means statistical analysis of population or sample that has indeterminate (imprecise, ambiguous, vague, incomplete, unknown) data. For example, the population or sample size might not be exactly determinate because of some individuals that partially belong to the population or sample, and partially they do not belong, or individuals whose appurtenance is completely unknown. Also, there are population or sample individuals whose data could be indeterminate. In this book, we develop the 1995 notion of neutrosophic statistics. We present various practical examples. It is possible to define the neutrosophic statistics in many ways, because there are various types of indeterminacies, depending on the problem to solve.

Book Synopsis A hybrid approach of neutrosophic sets and DEMATEL method for developing supplier selection criteria by : Mohamed Abdel-Basset
Download or read book A hybrid approach of neutrosophic sets and DEMATEL method for developing supplier selection criteria written by Mohamed Abdel-Basset and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For any organization, the selection of suppliers is a very important step to increase productivity and profitability.Any organization or company seeks to use the bestmethodology and the appropriate technology to achieve its strategies and objectives. The present study employs the neutrosophic set for decision making and evaluation method (DEMATEL) to analyze and determine the factors influencing the selection of SCM suppliers. DEMATEL is considered a proactive approach to improve performance and achieve competitive advantages. This study applies the neutrosophic set Theory to adjust general judgment, using a new scale to present each value. A case study implementing the proposed methodology is presented (i.e. selecting the best supplier for a distribution company). This research was designed by neutrosophic DEMATEL data collection survey of experts, interviewing professionals in management, procurement and production. The results analyzed in our research prove that quality is the most influential criterion in the selection of suppliers.
