Book Synopsis Socializing Art Museums by : Alejandra Alonso Tak
Download or read book Socializing Art Museums written by Alejandra Alonso Tak and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2020-08-24 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Art museums today face the challenge of opening themselves up as institutions to a changing society. This publication offers new perspectives on museological trends that are developing in various countries and cultures. Through increasingly flexible, inclusive and unexpected museum typologies, institutions aim to give their visitors greater access to art. The essays define the role of the museum as a medium of social change, as a protagonist in an education process and as a technologically innovative platform. Art historians, but also practitioners from the museum world – including curators, architects and psychologists – examine what is expected of art museums using case studies and against the background of the humanities and social sciences.

Download or read book Historia de los museos en España written by María Bolaños and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Beyond Public Engagement by : Pedro Ruiz-Castell
Download or read book Beyond Public Engagement written by Pedro Ruiz-Castell and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-05 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: University collections have unquestionably played a central role in the production of knowledge. They are valuable resources for studying the construction of traditions and identities, proving particularly interesting for understanding how universities have shaped societies. Furthermore, they have also been mobilised as cultural mediators to legitimise academic institutions and bring the results of their activities into the public sphere. As such, academic collections undoubtedly enable reflection on the complex relationships between heritage, knowledge, scholars, and the public. Given their importance, the development of successful strategies in terms of public engagement has recently become a major concern for those working with these academic collections. However, the complexity of university heritage encompasses a diversity of issues that are connected with more than just the public sphere. This volume discusses some of the problems, challenges, and opportunities of academic heritage, beyond the mere concern for engaging with the public.

Download or read book Cultura y conciencia imperial en la España del siglo XIX written by Alda Blanco and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2015-05-16 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
