Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most comprehensive book on Mobile Homes. This is a nuts and bolts description of how to make money from mobile homes. I have no intention of talking you into this plan by giving brainwashing example after example of the deals. I am also not going to gloss over the pitfalls and problems of the system either. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme, and there is some risk involved. It takes some cash to run the system, and I do not recommend doing it on a shoestring. It takes some time but can be a lot of fun. However, it is possible to make an excellent return on your investment. Today interest rates have almost shriveled up and died. Those who have saved all their lives to secure retirement have a wake-up call from failed speculative investments or almost zero interest rates for safe investments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses buying a property for the sole purpose of remodeling it to resell, commonly known as "flipping".This practice has been made popular by recent DIY programs on TV that tend to glamorize the process, but make no mistake; the process of house flipping is hard work, very stressful, and requires a lot of money and skill. There are a couple of reasons why a person might want to flip a house. The first reason is it is a historical or classical building, and a person wants to do the project for the love of the building. The second reason is TO MAKE MONEY. I believe 99% or more fall into the latter, and this book deals with this. I will guide you through all the steps in buying your property, the remodeling process, and finally, selling the project to make BIG PROFITS. I go into every granular detail, as I have been there and done that - dozens of times. Don't start a house flip without reading this book. Includes Mobile Homes and Rental Property

Book excerpt: Autobiography by D. Rod Lloyd, transitioning from an English background to a US adulthood.

Learn what small things growing up formed the basis of the man.

They say “to truly know and understand a man, you need to walk a mile in his shoes”. Here is an opportunity to walk in my shoes and get to know me a little.

There have been many autobiographies written by famous people or those who have made some notable contribution, making their story sought after. I write this not as a famous or prominent person, but as an average lad, for those who are interested, to see what my average life has consisted of and to truly see where I am coming from.

I wish my grandparents had written such a book for me to know them better.

In school, I was the worst writer and speller. Now I am writing as a published author. This book has helped me understand my past and, put all the pieces into perspective, understand how each experience has affected and influenced my life. Getting started was the hardest part. Once I started writing, I became addicted and consumed, I couldn’t stop. It was almost like I needed to see where I came from and where it was taking me.

They say when you have a near-death experience, your life flashes before you. Writing your own life story is a much more civilized way to get what I assume is the same experience. It is a fascinating journey revisiting one’s own life. Our memories are stored in the mind as little pockets of isolated information. Writing this book has allowed me to consolidate the memories into a logical and chronological order.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In American popular imagination, the mobile home evokes images of cramped interiors, cheap materials, and occupants too poor or unsavory to live anywhere else. Since the 1940s and '50s, however, mobile home manufacturers have improved standards of construction and now present them as an affordable alternative to conventional site-built homes. Today one of every fourteen Americans lives in a mobile home. In The Unknown World of the Mobile Home authors John Fraser Hart, Michelle J. Rhodes, and John T. Morgan illuminate the history and culture of these often misunderstood domiciles. They describe early mobile homes, which were trailers designed to be pulled behind automobiles and which were more often than not poorly constructed and unequal to the needs of those who used them. During the 1970s, however, Congress enacted federal standards for the quality and safety of mobile homes, which led to innovation in design and the production of much more attractive and durable models. These models now comply with local building codes and many are designed to look like conventional houses. As a result, one out every five new single-family housing units purchased in the United States is a mobile home, sited everywhere from the conventional trailer park to custom-designed "estates" aimed at young couples and retirees. Despite all these changes in manufacture and design, even the most immobile mobile homes are still sold, financed, regulated, and taxed as vehicles. With a wealth of detail and illustrations, The Unknown World of the Mobile Home provides readers with an in-depth look into this variation on the American dream. -- Karl Raitz, University of Kentucky, author of The National Road

Book excerpt: In the face of today's environmental and economic challenges, doomsayers preach that the only way to stave off disaster is for humans to reverse course: to de-industrialize, re-localize, ban the use of modern energy sources, and forswear prosperity. But in this provocative and optimistic rebuke to the catastrophists, Robert Bryce shows how innovation and the inexorable human desire to make things Smaller Faster Lighter Denser Cheaper is providing consumers with Cheaper and more abundant energy, Faster computing, Lighter vehicles, and myriad other goods. That same desire is fostering unprecedented prosperity, greater liberty, and yes, better environmental protection. Utilizing on-the-ground reporting from Ottawa to Panama City and Pittsburgh to Bakersfield, Bryce shows how we have, for centuries, been pushing for Smaller Faster solutions to our problems. From the vacuum tube, mass-produced fertilizer, and the printing press to mobile phones, nanotech, and advanced drill rigs, Bryce demonstrates how cutting-edge companies and breakthrough technologies have created a world in which people are living longer, freer, healthier, lives than at any time in human history. The push toward Smaller Faster Lighter Denser Cheaper is happening across multiple sectors. Bryce profiles innovative individuals and companies, from long-established ones like Ford and Intel to upstarts like Aquion Energy and Khan Academy. And he zeroes in on the energy industry, proving that the future belongs to the high power density sources that can provide the enormous quantities of energy the world demands. The tools we need to save the planet aren't to be found in the technologies or lifestyles of the past. Nor must we sacrifice prosperity and human progress to ensure our survival. The catastrophists have been wrong since the days of Thomas Malthus. This is the time to embrace the innovators and businesses all over the world who are making things Smaller Faster Lighter Denser Cheaper.

The case studies are developed for and tested in executive education programmes at leading business schools. The book is based on the premise that the key for managing the sustainable business is finding the right balance over time between managing competitiveness and profitability AND managing the context of the business with its political, social and ecological risks and opportunities. In that way, a sustainable business is highly responsive to the demands and challenges from both markets and societies and managers embrace the complexity, ambivalence and uncertainty that goes along with this approach. The book presents a framework that facilitates the adoption of best business practice. This framework leads executives through a systematic approach of strategic analysis and business planning in risk management, issues management, stakeholder management, sustainable business development and strategic differentiation, business model innovation and developing dynamic capabilities. The approach helps broaden the understanding of what sustainable performance means, by protecting business value against sustainability risks and creating business value from sustainability opportunities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the recent financial crisis, the conflict between sovereign states and banks over who controls the creation of money was thrown into sharp relief. This collection investigates the relationship between states and banks, arguing that conflicts between the two over control of money produces critical junctures. Drawing on Max Weber's concept of 'mobile capital', the book examines the mobility of capital networks in contexts of funding warfare, global bubbles and dangerous instability disengaged from social-economic activity. It proposes that mobile capital is a primary feature of capitalism and nation states, and furthermore, argues that the perennial, hierarchical struggles between states and global banks is intrinsic to capitalism. Featuring authors writing from an impressively diverse range of academic backgrounds (including sociology, geography, economics and politics), Critical Junctures in Mobile Capital presents a variety of analyses using current or past examples from different countries, federations, and of differing forms of mobile capital.
