Book excerpt: A steadfast faith is built on the firm foundation of God's Word. For decades, this pattern of teaching has helped men and women around the world gain a clear understanding of God, man's relationship with Him, and the grace He has made freely available through the death of His Son. Many teachers have successfully used these lessons from the previous version in churches, classroom and small groups. Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ presents in order key teachings about: God's nature and character; Man's sinful state and separation from God; God's grace, presence and activity through history; Christ as the promised Redeemer. Moving from Genesis through the life of Christ, your students will see God's plan of redemption unfold. They'll follow God's pattern of progressively revealing His character. Book Synopsis Announcing the Kingdom by : Arthur F. Glasser
Download or read book Announcing the Kingdom written by Arthur F. Glasser and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2003-09-01 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Announcing the Kingdom provides a comprehensive survey of the biblical foundation of mission. It investigates the development of the kingdom of God theme in the Old Testament, describing what the concept tells us about God's mission in creation, the flood, and the covenant with Abraham. It then describes God's mission through the nation of Israel during the exodus, at Mt. Sinai, and through the kings of Israel. The book then examines God's mission as Israel is sent into exile and the stage is set for the Messiah's coming. Finally, the book considers the fulfillment of the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ and the church. It examines Jesus' parables and ministry, his proclamation of God's kingdom among the nations, and the work of the Holy Spirit through the church. Announcing the Kingdom is the product of Arthur Glasser's more than thirty years of teaching and has been used by thousands of students at Fuller Theological Seminary. Now revised by Glasser's colleagues, this study provides mission workers and students with a new understanding of their calling and its biblical foundation.

Book Synopsis The Sunday School Movement in Britain, 1900-1939 by : Caitriona McCartney
Download or read book The Sunday School Movement in Britain, 1900-1939 written by Caitriona McCartney and published by Boydell & Brewer. This book was released on 2023-04-25 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Demonstrates the vital role Sunday schools played in forming and sustaining faith before, during, and after the Frist World War for British populations both at home and abroad. Sunday schools were an important part of the religious landscape of twentieth-century Britain and they were widely attended by much of the British population. The Sunday School Movement in Britain argues that the schools played a vital role in forming and sustaining the faith of those who lived and served during the First World War. Moreover, the volume contends that the conflict did not cause the schools to decline and proposes that decline instead set in much earlier in the twentieth century. The book also questions the perception that the schools were ineffective tools of religious socialisation and examines the continued attempts of the Sunday school movement to professionalise and improve their efforts. Thus, the involvement of the movement with the World's Sunday School Association is revealed to be part of the wider developing international ecumenical community during the twentieth century. Drawing together under-utilised material from archives and newspapers in national and local collections, The Sunday School Movement in Britain presents a history of the schools demonstrating their lasting significance in the religious life of the nation and, by extension, the enduring importance of Christianity in Britain during the first half of the twentieth century.
