The latest thriller by New York Times bestselling author Bob DeMoss. Here Jodi and her classmates set sail on the Chesapeake Bay during Spring Break. They were supposed to learn how to respect people whose beliefs clashed with their own, while embracing diversity. How could they know one passenger had come armed and was bent on bloody death or that they were in the pathway of a powerful storm? Or that someone had disabled the radio to silence any calls for help? How could they foresee that their boat had become a floating laboratory—where truth and lies, right and wrong would be tossed overboard? Had they known, they would never have left the safety of the dock. Can they survive the storm? — Be sure to check out all four books in the Soul Survivor Series including: All the Rave, The Last Dance, and Black Friday.

Book excerpt: New York Times best-selling author Tim LaHaye and author David Noebel give a wake-up call for Christians to fight the tide of popular beliefs and win the battle for your mind. Two basic sources of reasoning determine the thoughts, ideas, beliefs, values, aims, morals, lifestyles, and activities of mankind-the wisdom of man and the wisdom of God. According to Tim LaHaye and David Noebel, life is mainly about the battle for your mind: whether you will live by man's wisdom, from the likes of Marx, Darwin, Freud, and Nietzsche, or God's wisdom and those who gave it, such as Moses, the prophets, Christ, and the apostles. Your choice will affect the way you live now and ultimately where you will spend eternity.

[2] Be a savoring moral influence in our culture." -- Introduction (p.10).

Rosie Meyer, the former Olympic silver medallist turned social studies teacher, dreams of her students learning first-hand the realities of tolerance and diversity. And learn they do. Although the students sail for a single week, the issues faced, the truths uncovered, and the lessons learned leave them changed for a lifetime. Followed by six short Bible studies, Tim LaHaye and Bob DeMoss offer a hands-on guide for students who grapple with the unbelievable social pressures and tough choices that face teens in the twenty-first century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fascinating survey of the defining activity of warfare between rival power centers in the Middle Ages from the author of A Brief History of the Crusades. Great sieges changed the course of medieval history, yet siege warfare, the dominant military activity of the period, is rarely given the attention it deserves. Geoffrey Hindley’s highly readable new account of this vital but neglected aspect of medieval warfare looks at the subject from every angle. He traces the development of fortifications and siege equipment, explores the psychological dimension and considers the parts played by women and camp followers. He also shows siege tactics in action through a selection of vivid case studies of famous sieges taken from the history of medieval Europe and the Holy Land. His stimulating and accessible study will be fascinating reading for medieval specialists and for anyone who is interested in the history of warfare. “For those interested in a fuller understanding of medieval warfare, covering the years 500 to 1500 C.E., this book should be square one . . . the extremely readable results are recommended.” —Library Journal

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contemporary world is witness to an intense controversy about secularism. This controversy has intensified due to the presence of fundamentalism, which challenges secular society and the secularization of philosophical ideas and ethical values. Secularists maintain that the state should not impose a religious creed upon citizens and should respect freedom of conscience, the right to believe or disbelieve in the prevailing orthodoxy. This right is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the US Constitution and the Rights of Man enunciated in the French Revolution. Yet many powerful religious institutions do not accept this principle. Paul Kurtz argues that secularism needs to be allied to the emergence of democratic institutions that respect individual freedom and the pluralistic society. He argues that a defense of secularism entails a defense of the civic virtues of democracy, which include the toleration of dissent and alternative lifestyles and the willingness to negotiate differences. Consequently, secularism will take different forms in different societies; the term multi-secularism best describes that. Many people believe that it is impossible to maintain a moral order without the support of religion. Kurtz vigorously denies that, and this volume attempts to explicate the values and principles of secular morality, which he sees as the cornerstone of the open democratic society. Kurtz was involved in the campaign for secularism throughout his career as a philosopher. This book reflects his participation in this battle and extends his thinking to new areas.
