Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe from New York Times bestselling author, Melissa de la Cruz, is a sweet, sexy and hilarious gender-swapping, genre-satisfying re-telling, set in contemporary America and featuring one snooty Miss Darcy. Darcy Fitzwilliam is 29, beautiful, successful, and brilliant. She dates hedge funders and basketball stars and is never without her three cellphones—one for work, one for play, and one to throw at her assistant (just kidding). Darcy’s never fallen in love, never has time for anyone else’s drama, and never goes home for Christmas if she can help it. But when her mother falls ill, she comes home to Pemberley, Ohio, to spend the season with her family. Her parents throw their annual Christmas bash, where she meets one Luke Bennet, the smart, sardonic slacker son of their neighbor. Luke is 32-years-old and has never left home. He’s a carpenter and makes beautiful furniture, and is content with his simple life. He comes from a family of five brothers, each one less ambitious than the other. When Darcy and Luke fall into bed after too many eggnogs, Darcy thinks it’s just another one night stand. But why can’t she stop thinking of Luke? What is it about him? And can she fall in love, or will her pride and his prejudice against big-city girls stand in their way?

Book excerpt: HOME AND FAMILY LIFE (FOR GRADE 6, THE AGE OF INNOCENCE) The book series is all about education in human sexuality, based on the nourishment and cultivation of the natural gift of a person’s character. The series is based on the premise that SEXUALITY EDUCATION is, basically, CHARACTER EDUCATION, which in turn is founded on human dignity and encompasses formation in moral standards and human conduct; hence, covering the key elements of “life and love, and everything in between”. Comprising an introductory volume for parents and teachers; a volume for classroom use of teachers; a volume for parents; and eight volumes for Grades 5 to 12, respectively, this current volume is specifically addressed to Grade 6 pupils, about 12 to 13 years of age in their pre- and early adolescence. It talks about HOME AND FAMILY LIFE: the key elements that comprise a home; the uniqueness of every home and family; the gift of children; and the contribution of each one in shaping a home and a family. The home is viewed as the first school of life; hence, the lynchpin of one’s education. The book series is characterized by sound, perennial concepts and by teaching and learning tools geared towards the age group being addressed.

Book excerpt: "Alternating between the Philippines and the United States, namely New York and Los Angeles, The Gangster of Love is the story of Rocky Rivera, who plays in a dissolute rock band with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Elvis Chang; Rocky's spirited and deeply traditional mother, Milagros; her troubled and bedeviled brother, Voltaire; her wonderfully eccentric uncle, Marlon; and her best friend, the wildly unpredictable, enigmatic Keiko. These, along with other characters real and imagined, form a family story spanning generations and cultures. Together they grow to and through adulthood, acquiring spouses, lovers, companions, children, and in-laws; making a place for themselves in the world; shattering myths, icons, and expectations; struggling to find that point where alienation and assimilation, identity and dignity, coincide."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book excerpt: After David the Writer leaves Cameron de la Cruz for a night out at Dave and Busters in Manhattan, Cameron finds herself in a proverbial quarter-life crisis. Cameron, the naïve anti-heroine, must make a choice between doing what is best for her sanity or what is ultimately better for society. In between high-profile careers and men, she finds that the lines between what is normally considered morally just versus what is ethically corrupt are blurring together. Love, lust, and money become entangled in these figurative, and occasionally literal, video games.

Book excerpt: The Healing Art of Pet Parenthood is a true story about the human-animal bond, healing cancer holistically, senior canine care, and an empowering new take on the grieving process when a beloved animal passes away. Buttons was a happy, kooky cockapoo/terrier. When she was eight, she was diagnosed with a virulent form of cancer and given six weeks to live unless she underwent amputation, chemotherapy, and radiation. Instead, her pet parent, Nadine, launched a holistic regimen which included: clearing Buttons's inner and outer environment of all toxins cleansing her body of all residual toxins, and giving her body the nutritional support it needed to heal itself Four months later, Buttons was vibrantly alive and cancer free. She thrived for an additional eleven years. The Healing Art of Pet Parenthood will take you on a journey into the unlimited love and joy at the heart of all true relationships. At the same time, it will lead you deeply into yourself. This is the story of how Nadine and Buttons saved each other's lives. It is only one version of a story shared by millions of pet parents. About the Author Nadine M. Rosin has been a student of alternative healing for over thirty years and is a certified holistic pets/toxic-free living consultant, pet bereavement facilitator, and public speaker. She is also a Society of Southwestern Authors 2005 contest winner and a gallery-signed artist. Her commissioned works include four paintings for the University of Arizona. Above all, she considers her most rewarding experience to be that of pet parent.
