Beekman: Presented Before the Committee of the Senate, Appointed to Investigate Certain Pecuniary Affairs of Union College Resolved, that the report of the majority, and of the minority of the commissioners, heretofore appointed by the Senate, to investigate the pecuniary affairs of Union College, be referred to a committee of three members of the Senate, to investigate the matters specified in the Senate resolutions, of June and July, 1851; with power to send for persons and papers, and if necessary, to sit after the adjournment of the present session of the Senate; and, after a full and fair hearing of all parties and persons desiring to be heard before them, to report the results of their inquiries, and their opinions thereon; and the said committee shall make up and sign their report, by the first day of August next, and shall deposit the same with the Attorney General of this State, by that day, whose duty it shall be forthwith, thereafter, (if, in his opinion, there are good reasons therefor, ) to take such legal proceedings against the Trustees of Union College, or against the President thereof, or against all or any, or either of them, or against any person connected with said college, who may have been guilty of improper conduct, or of any unlawful acts. Resolved, further, that the Attorney General, present any report, so left with him, to the next Legislature, on the first day of its session, in order that they may take such further action in the premises, as may seem to them right.
