Book Synopsis Applications of Computer Algebra by : Richard Pavelle
Download or read book Applications of Computer Algebra written by Richard Pavelle and published by Springer. This book was released on 1985 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, certain computer software systems exist which surpass the computational ability of researchers when their mathematical techniques are applied to many areas of science and engineering. These computer systems can perform a large portion of the calculations seen in mathematical analysis. Despite this massive power, thousands of people use these systems as a routine resource for everyday calculations. These software programs are commonly called "Computer Algebra" systems. They have names such as MACSYMA, MAPLE, muMATH, REDUCE and SMP. They are receiving credit as a computational aid with in creasing regularity in articles in the scientific and engineering literature. When most people think about computers and scientific research these days, they imagine a machine grinding away, processing numbers arithmetically. It is not generally realized that, for a number of years, computers have been performing non-numeric computations. This means, for example, that one inputs an equa tion and obtains a closed form analytic answer. It is these Computer Algebra systems, their capabilities, and applications which are the subject of the papers in this volume.

Download or read book Heavy Flavours written by A J Buras and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-11-26 with total page 803 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of review articles on the most outstanding topics in heavy flavour physics. All the authors have made significant contributions to this field. The book reviews in detail the theoretical structure of heavy flavour physics within the Standard Model and its confrontation with existing experimental data. The physics of the top quark and of the Higgs play an important role in this volume. Beginning with radiative electroweak corrections and their impressive tests at LEP and hadron colliders, the book summarizes the present status of quark mixing, CP violation and rare decays. The dynamics of exclusive D- and B-meson decays, the τ-lepton physics and the newly discovered heavy quark symmetries are discussed in detail. The impact of strong interactions on weak decays is clearly visible in many articles. The physics of heavy flavours at LEP, HERA and hadron colliders constitutes an important part of the book. Another significant topic is the possible role of heavy flavours in the spontaneous symmetry breaking of gauge symmetries. Finally the most recent advances in lattice calculations of the properties of heavy flavours and the lattice studies of the dynamics of heavy flavours are presented.
Book Synopsis The Bible in Ancient and Modern Media by : Holly Hearon
Download or read book The Bible in Ancient and Modern Media written by Holly Hearon and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-01-01 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cutting-edge volume has been brought together in honor of Thomas Boomershine, author, scholar, storyteller, innovator. The particular occasion inviting this recognition of his work is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Society of Biblical Literature's section on The Bible in Ancient and Modern Media (BAMM), which Tom was instrumental in founding. For two and half decades this program unit has provided scholars with opportunities to explore and experience biblical material in media other than silent print, including both oral and multimedia electronic performances. This book explores many, though by no means all, of the issues lifted up in those sessions over the years. Contributors A. K. M. Adam Adam Gilbert Bartholomew Arthur J. This book was released on 2018-12-27 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has recently been more successful than al Qaeda in gaining U.S. terrorist recruits. The authors undertake a demographic profile of individuals drawn to foreign terrorist organizations and find that the affiliates average terrorists recruited by ISIL is younger, less educated, and more likely to be African American/black or Caucasian/white and a U.S.-born citizen.

Book Synopsis Art, Conservation and Authenticities by : E. Hermens (ed.)
Download or read book Art, Conservation and Authenticities written by E. Hermens (ed.) and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The papers presented in this volume focus on a series of conservation 'flashpoints'-- painted works, drawings, sculpture, installations, new media, performance, interiors and historic houses, cultural objects-- and revolve around three key areas considered vital in establishing or vouchsafing an artwork's 'authenticity': material, concept and context. A wide range of approaches, some object-based, some more conceptual and philosophical, demonstrate that although the term authenticity is generally employed in the singular, the values associated with it are multiple, multilayered and often competing. The papers, each in their own way, evaluate the critical potential of the pluralised form, 'authenticities', creating a platform for a continuous discussion on this important and fascinating theme"--P. Book Synopsis Afro-Hispanic Linguistic Remnants in Mexico by : Norma Rosas Mayén
Download or read book Afro-Hispanic Linguistic Remnants in Mexico written by Norma Rosas Mayén and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last decades, the study of Afro-Spanish varieties that developed during the Colonial period in the Americas has seduced many scholars. The analysis of these Afro-Hispanic speech patterns is crucial to determine their creolized or non-creolized status, as well as to understand the scarcity of the Spanish-based creoles in the Americas. The present study contributes to this linguistic field by analyzing the current speech of the Afro-Mexicans of the Costa Chica region, one of the largest Afro-Mexican enclaves, while proposing a Rhizomatic Linguistic Model to interpret data derived from contact situations. This investigation not only accounts for the Afro-Hispanic linguistic remnants of this Spanish variety, but also examines the current linguistic characteristics and sociolinguistic status of this speech area on the brink of extinction. In addition, this book advocates on behalf of those Costa Chica Afro-Mexican communities that have been stigmatized and customarily ignored in Mexico's nation-state politics.
