I have been most anxious to avoid one error made by nearly all Authors of Shorthand systems published in recent years, that of rushing into print with a theory before it has been put to any practical test. "'McEwan's Shorthand" was first prepared in the year 1888, and the past 15 years have been employed to practically test it, and to improve it when and where experience showed it to lack what was necessary to make it the simplest, as well as the briefest, method of writing ever invented.
