Book Synopsis Mass in A-flat Major by : Franz Schubert
Download or read book Mass in A-flat Major written by Franz Schubert and published by Alfred Music. This book was released on 1999-08-26 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It took Franz Schubert three full years (1819-1822) to come up with a version of the Mass No. 5 in A flat major, D. 678 that pleased him. Its importance to him is shown by the evidence that he set several of the movements twice, and revised the work again in 1826. At one point he chose to call the work a Missa Solemnis. Schubert himself felt this to be possibly the finest of his six Latin masses. This sacred choral score, in Latin text, is intended for SATB divisi with SATB Soli with a piano reduction of the orchestral parts. Includes: * Kyrie * Gloria * Credo * Sanctus * Benedictus * Agnus Dei * Cum Sancto Spiritu (alternate setting) * Osanna in Excelsis Deo (alternate setting)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Grand Mass in E-flat Major by Amy Beach was the first large-scale choral and orchestral work to be premiered in the United States by an American woman composer. Despite a successful premiere in 1892, the piece was never published and has been relegated to obscurity save for a small number of performances since the 1980s. Its performance materials have been housed in the New England Conservatory of Music and exist in manuscripts that are difficult to use in performance. This critical edition is the first to establish in print the corrections Beach made for the 1892 premiere and to correct errors that are present in the original source materials.
