El libro recorre este proceso desde la concepción hasta los tres años de edad. ¿Cómo es la vida del bebé en el útero? ¿Qué es un parto normal, fisiológico, respetado, acompañado? ¿Qué necesita el bebé recién salido de la panza? ¿La lactancia materna es una elección? ¿Por qué llora un bebé? Cinco señales que encienden alarmas de los padres en las seis primeras semanas de vida. El sueño y la importancia de crear hábitos con los bebés. Por qué es bueno que los bebés duerman en la cama con sus padres. El colecho y el sueño seguro. La revolución corporal a partir de los seis meses: la angustia cuando se separan de la madre, la comida complementaria y la vida familiar. El valor del juego y de las primeras lecturas. El proceso de dejar los pañales y la construcción de la confianza básica y de los límites. Un tema del que se habla muy poco: la sexualidad infantil. Pensar en la preparación para ser padres en la actualidad hace referencia a conectarse con la concepción y el embarazo, y la actitud que se tome frente a la maternidad-paternidad considerando que convertirse en padres es algo irreversible.
