Book excerpt: Man Up! Rise to the Challenge; 8 Truths to Encourage, Equip and Empower Every Man to Live Out His Destiny presents practical insight, instruction and inspiration that can help men develop and implement a vision plan that will take their lives and families to a new dimension. Each truth is a chapter based upon one of my favorite Biblical men who overcame an obstacle to live out his vision, as well as an inspirational message that helps men open their minds to God's vision for their lives. After each message, there are several real-life questions for men to answer to help guide them in formulating a vision plan for their lives and families. There are also eight short motivational deeper studies that conclude each chapter to further encourage, equip and empower men to live out their destiny. If you are a man who wants to live at maximum capacity, or if you are a wife, mother, son, daughter, sister, aunt, friend or co-worker of a man that you want to see live at maximum capacity, then Man Up! Rise to the Challenge makes the perfect gift. I am not promising a magical formula or a guarantee that if you read this material, your vision will automatically happen. Nor am I promising that if you follow these truths, you will not encounter obstacles or opposition. Just know that to walk in your vision, you must make sacrifices, overcome challenges, face opposition and work your plan. If you apply the practical information found within this manual, it will help you move in the direction that God destined for you. In each of the eight chapters, you'll find yourself desiring things you never wanted, knowing things about yourself you never knew, and overcoming obstacles you never imagined. I pray that these eight truths will open your mind and heart to everything God destined you to be and do. Not only will your life be affected, but everyone connected to you will be affected in a positive way.

Book excerpt: I’ve watched men change from confident, decisive, and action-oriented lions to second-guessing, scared-of-their-shadows, don’t-rock-the-boat mice. They don’t feel confident in relationships, work environments—or anywhere. Men are either looking for something or running from something; maybe it’s a bit of both. Well, it’s time to stop running. It’s time to MAN UP to face the real issues. Being a real man is about being true to yourself first. It means finding strength from living authentically and then sharing that strength with others. Being a real man means understanding who you are and how to influence the world for the better. A real man is an asset to those around him. He doesn’t have to “take charge” but he leads the charge, and people want to join in. A real man draws people in. In fact, he is completely irresistible. Men may feel like they have lost the permission they once had to be men, but I’m here to tell you that you don’t need permission. You don’t need anyone authorizing you to be who you were meant to be. It’s time to stop trying to please everyone else. It’s time to stop apologizing for thinking like a man, acting like a man, and being a man. It’s time to MAN UP!

Book excerpt: Much has been written regarding the New Woman in the fin de siècle and the changes women’s groups fought so hard to achieve. However, the social and gender changes demanded by women as the nineteenth century drew to a close necessitated a corresponding change in traditional masculinities. Redefinition of the male role was not easily negotiated in an era of rampant patriarchy and Victorian supremacy; the distinct boundaries between male and female social space made this increasingly problematic for both genders. Some Victorian men, who had seen the public sphere as exclusively theirs, felt both their masculinity and male privilege threatened and were confused by women’s challenges and their attempted encroachment into what had previously been perceived as solely male domains. While many female authors explored possibilities for the New Woman figure, as the fin de siècle approached, male authors began to consider how masculinities might respond to changing gender dynamics. Authors such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker, amongst others, addressed ways in which their male characters could negotiate a quandary of masculinities under threat by alterations to conventional gender spheres while remaining “manly” in situations which required a rethinking of many of their basic tenets during this time of flux. This book examines the opinions of women within both the dominant and reverse discourses, and parallels them with ideas surrounding changes in masculinities that began to emerge in male-authored texts. As such, it details an often vociferous negotiation of volatile issues which led to a major upheaval of gender roles in the approach to a new century that demanded changes which were difficult to achieve.

Book excerpt: Forty-five years after women's liberationists first laid down their challenge, chanting 'Women demand equality!' and 'I'm a second-class citizen', their narratives are now so universally accepted that few people dare speak truth to the power in the land that feminism has undoubtedly become. However, this book does just that. Opening with a startling revelation in 2014 by Mallory Millett, sister of Kate Millett - a mentally-ill Marxist apologist, and probably the prime mover in the women's liberation movement around 1970 - Their Angry Creed is a detailed exposé of what she and her co-conspirators were planning from the start. The author shows how these activists influenced a generation of women - many of whom are now in prominent and powerful positions - to seek a seismic shift in the power balance between women and men by dividing society along the fault line of gender. Feminism has never been about equality for women. It is cultural Marxism, whose principles uphold matriarchy - the social superiority of women - which is to be achieved through the destruction of marriage, the re-engineering of the family, moving women en masse out of the home and into the workforce, and the disruption of society as we know it. Describing how these activists have already secured unreasonable and unfair privilege for women and girls, he points to the demonisation of manhood, men's effective social emasculation, the invasion of men's social spaces to the point of harassment, and the relentless excision of fathers from families. He ends by warning of a coming backlash from men.

Book excerpt: Today, our world is in desperate need of men. Not men in quantity, but men in character. "My Declaration" is written as a challenge for men to rise-up and live in that character through their God given purpose and potential in this life. Something was started within us as men when we were born. Something was placed in us by God Himself that lies dormant and ready to rise. Through this book you will be challenged to rise-up with a bold faith and finish what was started in you by being aggressive at purity, taking responsibility, honoring God financially, leading courageously, and leaving a legacy. Those things are already at the core of every man, we just need to rise-up and live them out as men. This is My Declaration! It can be yours as well.

Still, even she knows that she shouldn't talk to strangers. So when her mysterious neighbour Miss Hatfield asked her in for a chat and a drink, Cynthia wasn't entirely sure why she said yes. It was a decision that was to change everything. For Miss Hatfield is immortal. And now, thanks to a drop of water from the Fountain of Youth, Cynthia is as well. But this gift might be more of a curse, and it comes with a price. Cynthia is beginning to lose her personality, to take on the aspects of her neighbour. She is becoming the next Miss Hatfield. But before the process goes too far, Cynthia must travel back in time to turn-of-the-century New York and steal a painting, a picture which might provide a clue to the whereabouts of the source of immortality. A clue which must remain hidden from the world. In order to retrieve the painting, Cynthia must infiltrate a wealthy household, learn more about the head of the family, and find an opportunity to escape. Before her journey is through, she will also have - rather reluctantly - fallen in love. But how can she stay with the boy she cares for, when she must return to her own time before her time-travelling has a fatal effect on her body? And would she rather stay and die in love, or leave and live alone? And who is the mysterious stranger who shadows her from place to place? A hunter for the secret of immortality - or someone who has already found it?

Book excerpt: At a time when many boys are in crisis, a much-needed roadmap for helping boys grow into strong and compassionate men Over the past two decades there has been an explosion of new studies that have expanded our knowledge of how boys think and feel. In How to Raise a Boy, psychologist Michael Reichert draws on his decades of research to challenge age-old conventions about how boys become men. Reichert explains how the paradigms about boys needing to be stoic and "man like" can actually cause them to shut down, leading to anger, isolation, and disrespectful or even destructive behaviors. The key to changing the culture lies in how parents, educators, and mentors help boys develop socially and emotionally. Reichert offers readers step-by-step guidance in doing just this by: Listening and observing, without judgment, so that boys know they're being heard. Helping them develop strong connections with teachers, coaches, and other role models Encouraging them to talk about their feelings about the opposite sex and stressing the importance of respecting women Letting them know that they don't have to "be a man" or "suck it up," when they are experiencing physical or emotional pain. Featuring the latest insights from psychology and neuroscience, How to Raise a Boy will help those who care for young boys and teenagers build a boyhood that will enable them to grow into confident, accomplished and kind men.

Readers of fiction, history and biblical novels will love his daring adventures and life-changing encounter with God on a mount called the Rise. Experience great miracles of God, revealing history lessons, and faith-stretching trials of this talented and devoted “man after the heart of God.” Grow your faith as David trusts the LORD in dangerous scenes, truly repents his dreadful sins, and inspires by his psalms. Be intrigued by his unique parentage, faithful mother, and relationship with men like Joab and his 600 Mighty Men. Can his disgraceful tryst with Bathsheba be pardoned or anger with God over the ark’s tragedy be pacified? Answers and more are abundant in The Rise.
