Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six years ago the editors of the Encyclopedia of Medical Radiology selected two additional editors from the emerging generation of young radiologists to complete this unique compendium of radiology. Klaus Ranniger was one of them and he worked with enthusiasm and great energy at the challenge facing him. His editorial work was excellent and he succeeded in winning internationally acclaimed scientists to contribute to this volume. Their chapters have met the requirements and goals we set out to achieve in every aspect and to the highest degree. The majority of the authors valued Klaus Ranniger not only as a fellow scientist and doctor but also as a personal friend. In America, his adopted country, he found acknowledgement of his personal achievement and scientific research. He was highly respected and admired among specialists in the field of radiology. Klaus Ranniger, our coeditor and friend, died suddenly and unexpectedly before this volume could be published. We are honored to present this volume as his legacy. Book Synopsis Adjuvant Therapy of Primary Breast Cancer by : Hans-Jörg Senn
Download or read book Adjuvant Therapy of Primary Breast Cancer written by Hans-Jörg Senn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ultimate "consumer" of the data presented at conferences on the primary treatment of operable breast cancer is the patient, and when, as in this disease, the benefits of therapy are relatively mod est, the availability and interpretation of the data from trials be comes an issue of primary importance. The effects of present treat ment are in fact such that more patients relapse despite therapy than are estimated to benefit from it. It is, therefore, extremely dif ficult for the physician to recommend unequivocally one particular adjuvant treatment modality for the vast population of women with breast cancer. The interpretation of results from clinical research-oriented pro grams is constantly applied, however, in the treatment of breast cancer patients outside of clinical trials. From presented or publish ed data, many physicians extrapolate indications for the use of a given treatment regimen for their patients, perceiving it as the "best available therapy. " It is essential that the "best available therapy" be selected individually for each patient. However, considering the modest effect of treatment upon outcome, it is imperative that those who provide the data - those who are involved in both pa tient care and clinical research - make it known that the best cur rent treatment for the population of breast cancer patients is avail able within the framework of clinical trials. In this way not only present-day patients but also future ones will derive the greatest benefit.
Download or read book Breast Diseases written by Fred Kubli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Important contributions about the treatment modalities of breast cancer are presented in this book. The risks and limitations of breast conserving therapy of mammary carcinoma are dealt with. Newest findings show that this form of therapy has the same outcome as conservative treatment modalities. The book also considers controversial issues such as the treatment of mastopathy, precancerous, and non-invasive lesions of the breast. New, but not yet approved, regimes for the prevention of mammary carcinoma and open questions concerning adequate operative treatment are discussed. Latest results presented here show that all modern palliative chemotherapy has a certain but limited effect on outcome and that early detection and preventive therapy (surgical and hormonal) will be of great importance for improved chances of survival of breast cancer.

Download or read book Mammography written by Marton Lanyi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An explanation of modern breast pathology aimed at physicians practicing mammography. Mammography can be thought of as a (sub)macroscopic "shadow pathology" - confident diagnosis necessitates comprehensive knowledge of breast pathology. The traditional rules of thumb, for example that a regular, rounded shadow means a benign lesion, a radiating structure represents a malignant tumor, and microcalcification indicates biopsy, no longer hold true. The over 600 individual illustrations and more than 1,000 references help the reader understand breast morphology. The book is rounded off by a detailed description of the clinical symptoms and a helpful summary of the supplementary diagnostic procedures and the possibilities for treatment.

Book Synopsis Die Mistel in der Tumortherapie 5 by : Rainer Scheer
Download or read book Die Mistel in der Tumortherapie 5 written by Rainer Scheer and published by KVC Verlag NATUR UND MEDIZIN e.V.. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
