This book was released on 2003 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among Indian mahseers, Tor mahseer Tor tor (Hamilton, 1822) is the most important food and game fish of India after Tor putitora (Hamilton, 1822). It constitutes an outstanding fishery in the Narmada River in central India. It has also settled in some Indian reservoirs which have been stocked with this fish. However, the building of dams across certain rivers has created reservoirs that have destroyed the natural breeding grounds of the fish and caused mortality on brood and juvenile fish indiscriminately. The mahseer fishery of India is further declining as a result of low recruitment of the fish. Stocking rivers and reservoirs with mahseer is therefore essential to restore the fishery. This synopsis is the compilation of biological data for Tor tor - Tor mahseer collected from different sources. The detailed biological information on Tor tor, including the feeding habits, breeding and growth patterns contained in this synopsis, will be very useful in planning the development of the mahseer fishery in India.

This book was released on 2019-05-10 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a total of 25 unpublished research articles. In this edition, we have kept parity with each other’s outcomes, concisely in a unique style to depict the trends of research in the mountain fishery sector. We have also appended a list of contributors at the end of the book. The strategies observed in fisheries and aquaculture developments in the mountain waters clearly reveal that the on-going dimensions are nothing but broad ecosystem-based approached where both subsistence and commercial expansion of the systems could be possible. The research trend also directs that several fishery components, like ornamental fisheries, recreational fisheries, integrated fish farming, freshwater crab fishery, shellfish aquaculture, etc., exist. They may also be strengthened in mountain waters to improve the economic status of the mountain regions. Thus for exploiting huge mountain aqua-resources, Arunachal Pradesh targets the ecosystem-based approach of raising native mahseers, like Tor tor, Tor putitora, Neolissochilus hexagonolepis, and exotic species of trout in its mountain waters as a preliminary endevour.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Leigh Perkins bought the Orvis Company in 1965, the fly-fishing and bird-hunting outfitter was a sleepy business with annual sales that had leveled off at $500,000. Over the next thirty years Perkins built Orvis's annual sales to $100 million by revolutionizing the catalog retail industry and reshaping the company's tradition-bound culture. He achieved this by blending his love of nature with his business acumen and bringing the commonsense approach he learned in the streams and on his hunts to his boardroom decision making. The basic principles he used to run his business include: The Customer Is Always Right. . . Even When You Know Damned Well He's Wrong: Perkins put such a high priority on customer service that he would personally man the phones at the height of the holiday season each year to keep in touch with his customers. Product Excellence: Perkins made sure that everything Orvis sold was of the highest quality--even if that meant he had to fight the US government to get access to embargoed Chinese bamboo for fly rods. Empower Your Employees: By promoting from within, and by empowering his employees to solve problems without manager involvement, Perkins built a loyal and talented team. Living the outdoor life his catalog popularized, Perkins traveled all over the world to fish and hunt, from Argentina to New Zealand, while devoting his resources to conservation causes worldwide.
